Daunte feeling frisky (1 Viewer)

Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper, on the mend from major knee reconstruction in November, is feeling so frisky he actually scrambled during a broken play at this past weekend's mini-camp. On Wednesday, coach Nick Saban said that Culpepper, "has done more than we ever thought he could do in terms of his physical ability," and that he has been given clearance to practice his 3-,5-, and 7-step drops, as well as move laterally.

It's been very weird drafting thus far. People seem to be of two "ilks". Either they love the fact that Daunte can be had later and has such an enormous upside(04 season) or they completely ignore him due to his injury. Haven't heard of one person actually liking him "straight up" compared to other QBs. Very very odd considerring how incredible his last full season was.

IMO He's a fabulous backup QB to draft and I'm pretty close to him being in my top 12.

I'm so shocked how far he's fallen in the "public's eye" that I'm anxious to see where he is drafted in late august and compare it to these early drafts.

Any Daunte thoughts?

Id find it hard to believe that Daunte will fall down to around the 12 QB unless more on his injury comes out. It only takes one person to fall in love with him and with the year he had in 2004 I cant believe that all owners will forget that and let him fall to a backup slot

I like Daunte straight up, and IF (I'm qualifying here) IF he plays the entire season, he could well be top 10, maybe top 6/7. Top 5 would probably be pushing it - I think he's got the talent, but even if he is "fully healed", he's still gonna have some rust to work off.

I was happy to get him in the 5th round of my initial dynasty league draft, picked up Harrington later for insurance, and traded for Brees for a good second, possibly first option. But I think Daunte can be a starting QB for a FF team this year.

We'll just have to wait and see - although he has medical clearance, I'm a little worried he's pushing too fast and will reinjure himself.

I "find it hard to believe" too.If you go to antsports ADP tool

click on only serious mocks. Ya see he's average of 6.05 but everyone else went in 16 mocks and him in only 10. (16-10)6 didn't draft him.

"How do ya like them apples?" :D

That's not the leagues I was talking about but it's the same results and easier than me giving you link after link to mocks I've personally done so....see it's very odd how he's being thought of now

Just the usual Daunte thoughts that have been repeated on this board ad infinitum.Concern for just how much the Moss factor was really responsible, for Daunte's numbers.

But I thought Moss was out or "not himself" for much of 2004?I'd guess just 10 games 700 yards

You're in one of these moods today, huh Bri? :stirspot: As pointed out in various AP reports from 2004 and multiple threads on this board, Moss would be trotted out at far less than a 100% and still pull the double coverage.

Somehow I don't want my players to feel "frisky", sounds like something you'd feel on a boat.
