SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
Woke up Saturday and it felt like my wrist had a huge bruise on it. It was swollen, but no bruise. Figured I bumped it while drinking on the 4th.
Yesterday, it was getting worse so I went to the doctor. He said he wanted to rule out a fracture, so he had me get X-rays. I was like, "You have got to be kidding me." I thought breaking my leg doing yard work was bad. But breaking my arm without knowing how was insane!
When the X-rays came back negative, the doctor began checking my movements more. Turns out I have De Quervain syndrome. It's like the tendon gets caught up moving through the sheath in your wrist, causing it to rub and make like a squeaking feeling. Hurts like a mother. He told me to order a thumb and wrist brace that I should sleep with to see if it gets better.
I asked what the cause is and he said that there's no real cause, although some believe repetitive motions can cause it (before anyone says it, I use the other hand for that). He said things like gaming, or using your phone.
He said it can go away or it can last forever (thanks for clearing that up, Doc.) Just wondered if anyone has experience with this crappy syndrome?
