What if was fantasy junkie MJD firing one of the naughty tweets? There's a guy (MJD) who has fun with it; embraces it ... plays it. And he's not the only one in the NFL.
MJD wouldn't do that. He gets really pissed off at the people that come at him after he plays poorly. When he has a bad game, he gets really upset at the fantasy owners who call him out on it (at ealst he does on his radio show)

Nowadays a "bad" MJD outing is >>>>>>> a "good" DWilly outing :boxing:

i'm pretty sure players' salaries would be much lower if it weren't for the popularity FF has brought to the NFL...Williams should probably shut up and stop making me look like an idiot for drafting him.
:lmao: Yes. Pretend football players ultimately run the show! :football:
Actually, I bet there's a lot of truth in this. It's all about TV dollars and no way does NFL TV do as well as it does without FF. I'd watch probably 80% less football, if not more.
Seriously? Wow. I've loved football since I was a kid and while I paid attention to more games/players when I played FF (I played for 10 year's and got burnt out and quit 5 years ago), I still put in 7-9 hours every Sunday watching - I just dont care as much about what individual players are doing. So FF didnt make me watch more, it just made me watch more closely.
You're in the vast, vast minority. Guys like you are not the reason the NFL can sell TV packages to the major networks for billions of dollars. Guys like me are (and there are plenty of us here). I've been in a buddies league since 1996, I started a league in Europe that still thrives, I play online leagues with dudes I've never met, I play in NFL Playoff leagues, I buy the NFL Ticket every year, I watch even the most dogcrap of dogcrap games (like the one on right now and even far worse). I honestly don't think I missed a football game in whatever time slot for the first eight years I played fantasy. Not one. I know what you're saying. I love me some football and I'll climb Everest to watch the Packers (I lived in Europe for three years so I know what it's like to have limited options) but as Jabroni said, without something on the line (cash and beating my buddies), I don't give an F about a Browns vs. Buccaneers game. And I may just walk away from it all some day and get back to my first love, Green Bay. I'd certainly welcome the "free" time as I've got a kid and another on the way.

It is funny that DeAngelo would bust on fantasy owners upset at his lack of production. There's a sorry few that actually still get disappointed by his lack of production - he should be kind to the few that still believe he's a talented back.As far as the others in the post that seem to think that fantasy football isn't extremely important to the NFL, you haven't watched a game in a while have you? NFL Redzone, the score alerts, the ticker at the bottom of the screen showing the stat leaders from the games. Also, how many different fantasy football related shows and/or segments during the pre-game? Not to mention all of the information on injury reports (started because of betting) and game-day inactives. All of that is directly related to fantasy football. Now, I'm not suggesting that fantasy football has any impact on the game itself, but it sure drives how the game is presented by all of the networks. Would there be an NFL network without the growth of fantasy football?
you are not gonna quit fantasy football because Dwill dished some trash talk back to you after you ragged in his ear. So give this FF importance to the NFL bit a rest, it IS important, that's why the NFL pushes it so much, but it doesnt matter here. Any chump that runs his mouth at DWill and quits playing FF because DWill jawed back at him, shouldn't be in the hobby and might need to find some panties.

Learn to read, footballnerd! Or if that is too difficult, at least have someone else read it for you!Where did I say anything about quitting fantasy football because of D-Will or even anything like that? I wasn't defending anyone's actions, I was merely stating a fact that the NFL does in fact care about fantasy football, because fantasy football is good business for the NFL.

Since he signed his contract, he has to be earning the most money per yard or carry of anyone that wasn't seriously injured. $43 million - that's like $1 million per yard since he signed.
So you think it's his decision to only run the ball 5 times a game? Should he give back some of the money? Are you remibursing your employer for the time you're spending on a fantasy football message board. This thread is kind of proving his point. He doesn't have to answer or be subjected to verbal abuse from a bunch of strangers that play fantasy football.

There seemed to be some implying Dwill should get in order since FF owners pay his bills. There is no doubt that fantasy football is important to the NFL, that does not need to be defended. FF owners that think they can throw their weight around and disrespect players without a retort need a wake up call though.

Totally agree! I wasn't defending some tool on Twitter, just making a point about the impact fantasy football has had on the NFL.

Lighten up, Francis. (That's a "Stripes" reference in case you didn't know.) Ever heard of sarcasm? There's a difference in posting something on a fantasy football message board than sending it directly to him on his personal Twitter account. The dig is more on the team for signing him for a ridiculous amount then not using him. On top of that, they then re-sign Stewart, and don't use him either. If they wanted, I could have signed the contract for half as much, and they would only be missing out on a few yards/carries a game. And I don't visit any fantasy football sites from work, but nice try.

In Deangelo's defense, he just got the twitter account about two weeks ago...so it's probably his first big brush in with the twitter blowup that NFL players get after a bad game or two. Most players have been on for a while and have already seen all of this before, but it's fairly new to him.Personally, I wish they would all just stay away from twitter.
I get it, but he needs to realize that some people take this stuff very seriously. There are a lot of abusive fans out there, some of whom become fixated on what he will do as a player. There is a reason why lots of celebs dont go out in public a ton. In exposing himself to Twitter, he needs to realize you need to take the good with the bad.He also needs to realize that a lot of people feel it is their right to criticize his game because their $200 tickets help to pay for his big fat salary.from that perspective, He should be saying something like this instead:Sir, I realize you are upset about your fantasy football scores. You have every right to want better production out of me, and I do my best. However, there are times when team goals outweigh personal goals, and sometimes you need to sacrifice personal goals or personal statistics to achieve better results for the team. I play within the system our team has in an effort to win ball games. If It suits our team to have me pass blocking so we can win the game through the air, that is what I will do. Your anger and foul language will not cause the coach to give me more carries per game, nor will it make the situation better. I suggest you focus your efforts in an area where your actions will actually have a direct impact on the end results for your fantasy team. I do wish you luck, and thank you very much for being an NFL fan.

Deangelo posted an apology on his twitter shortly after the game for the poor play of the team and himself, and said that fans have the right to be upset. This comment came later.

I respect the guy for his ability to man up.

now he needs to learn to be more careful about his tweets in the future.

Dear upset fantasy owners with the bad language you are a fantasy owner for a reason because you can't play or apparently fantasy coach!
I don't blame him. Guys playing fake football and taking it to twitter is ridiculous. Sort of like a lot of what happens on this board. There are threads bumped every week with guys getting all puffed up about how they were right about this or that...only for the opposition to get puffed up and bump the thread in the next week.

So stupid.
I kind of agree with the 'bad fantasy coach' part. Arian Foster said something like this in a tv special I saw recently, basically saying, 'why be ticked at me, you don't know how to set your lineup'.
