I did a search and couldn't locate anything on Foster's 2008 contract. I seem to remember there being some discussion about him signing a new contract last year. Does anyone know what his cap number is for 2008 and would you have any inside insight into what the Panthers might do next year with the RB position (can they dump Foster's contract)? Will Dwill be the guy or is it another year of RBBC? Any help is appreciated.

I would imagine a big chunk of that is in some sort of roster bonus, but not sure. If thats the case he may be a cap casualty.

Just found this info:

3/10/2006: Signed a three-year, $14.5 million contract. The deal included a $4.5 million signing bonus and contains another $3 million in incentives. 2007: $750,000 (+ $1.5 million roster bonus + $2 million "signing" bonus), 2008: $4.75 million, 2009: Free Agent

So, is the $4.5 million bonus spread over the three years, meaning there'd be a $1.5 cap hit in 2008 if he was waived prior to next season? And does a portion of the 2007 bonuses count against the 2008 cap if he's cut (half of the $3.5 million in bonuses he received this year)? $1.75 mil + $1.5 mil = $3.25 cap hit if cut before 2008 season? Did I do the math correctly?

As you may surmise, I'm trying to determine the likelihood of his release before the '08 season.
