DEEP WR sleepers (1 Viewer)

I'm going out on a limb and saying this is Tim Carter's year. He bumps Toomer via injury or due to stellar play.

Yeah maybe it's a wacky prediction but so be it

mentioned earlier in thread. 2 of those guys who looked good last night:

Drummond - fits the martz offense.

Kircus - possible move up to WR3 in Denver, a ton of potential.

I said the same thing about him for that last three seasons. dissappoints every year.

Seattle passing game will be effective. Hasselbeck passing for less than 24 touchdowns would be a shocker. Lots of potential there now. With Jackson questionable at best right now, there's room for someone to emerge.

I've been a fan of DJ Hackett for two years. He's got the skill set to be a big time contributor. However, Maurice Mann was the most impressive Seattle during the preseason. Hackett spent the first three games on the bench with a hamstring injury, but looked great in extended action during the fourth preseason game including a great catch in the back of the endzone.

Dynasty Sleeper: Derek Hagen, Miami

Hes a big, fast kid that has looked great in Dolphins camp. Plus, Marty Booker is over 30 and should be a cap casualty next season. Hagen is a first day pick with tremendous upside and would likely have the inside track on winning the starting job next year.

If you believe that Culpepper will eventually turn Miami into an offensive juggernaut (which is definitely possible), then acquiring the teams future #2 WR is good business.

How do you see this playing out Shick!Does Engram move up in the WR pecking order, or does he retain his role & Hackett leap frogs him?

Henderson/Colton

Who ever emerges out of these 2 as the WR 2 in NO.

-Great RB's in NO's.

-A better than average QB.

-Just lost their future number 1 WR. (Stallworth)

-Have an aging WR 1. (Horn)

-Will more than likely be playing from behind quite a bit.

One of these 2 guys could even emerge as the WR 1 in NO this year.

I'm not shy about letting folks know I think Engram will lead the team in targets should Jackson not see the field. Without Jackson in the mix I see the WR target pecking order like this: Engram (40%), Burleson(35%), Hackett (25%). Engram more between the 20s. Hackett more in the redzone. That said, I still think Jackson will play and play well.

Nice Value - Terry Glenn

Sleeper - Cedric Wilson

Deep deep sleeper. Sam Hurd
Ward is now questionable for the opener. Bump Wlson and maybe even Nate Washington. I just have a feeling this hammy issue for Ward is going to linger for a while.

Brandon Jones did his fans proud yesterday. He really showed some speed with that 54yd Tuddy.

Too bad we're not entirely sure who's going to be throwing him the ball !!

I am liking Rashied Davis a lot.
Davis is going to play for the Bears in the slot a lot, and will be returning kicks. Berrian will start the season as the #2, but he can't seem to stay on the field, so I think Davis will have some opportunites to make plays, but given that the Bears love to run the ball, and aren't know for big passing numbers, it would be a shocker to see him put up the kind of numbers that would be useful in fantasy football, unless you're getting points for kick returns, and he's pretty good at that.

I think I did a while back too, didn't last year(don't think so) but....this is the year IMO.I had the pleasure of speaking with someone recently that told me that when they drafted Moss, the next day they started drawing up plays just for him. He's been dinged up, as you know. To start camp, they had Carter running in those plays figuring the offense better know them for when Moss returns. Well, Carter did great and those plays are still there. Very interesting to know that a guy that low on the food chain has plays just for him now(and Moss too if he ever plays).

I might be wrong but I don't think so...didn't you say this last year? Or was it your excitement for Hackett? or both?Jax's injury woes are nothing new. Both he and Engram have been in Seattle a while, why is he going to come thru big now Shick?

He's looked better than Berrian and Bradley throughout camp and the preseason. Not entirely sure who will be the #2 to begin the year, but Davis has overcome the very long-shot odds to at least earn the opportunity. I'm not real concerned with the supposed Bears lack of a #2. Someone in that group will emerge IMO. I just hope Moose is more consistent than last season.

With regard to Hackett?Talent and opportunity. Last year he was WR5 in Seattle behind Jackson, Engram, Jurevicious, and Engram. If Jackson is a no go and they have to rely on him he'll have an opportunity (assuming they don't make a trade). I continue to like what I see from Hackett. If we don't trust our own observations, what's the point? Here's his log of games from last year as a rookie. Many games he didn't see the field because he was buried on the depth chart.

I see Hackett make plays that I don't think other guys in Seattle can make. He has the height to go up high and make a play. In particular, I like that he can snatch the ball with his hands in traffic. Nothing bothers me more than a player that routinely relies on cradling the ball against their body when they make a reception. This was my biggest annoyance with Koren Robinson while he was in town. Freaky athlete, terrible hands. All this said, he may not get a chance to play depending on what happens. He certainly qualifies as a DEEP WR SLEEPER and warrants watching. Probably went undrafted in most leagues. I'm not saying he will produce at a steady clip. I save those thoughts for the non-sleeper guaranted producing WR threads.Final thought. We know exactly what we have in Jackson and Engram. Neither are going to make spectacular catches down the field. Hackett? We don't know yet. His ceiling is much higher than anyone else in Seattle. Loads of potential, but potential is worth nothing in the short term. Time will tell. Perhaps he will never develop.

Jason Carter WR Vikings.

He will only have kick return duty for now but he made some plays in preseason.

And the Vikings have some history with Wrs named Carter. :bag:

At least he made the team. I liked him better before the Vikings signed Pinkston.

I'll say it again.Nate Washington.
He looked good on the TD, but is he a guy that will produce much with Ward and Miller garnering most of the looks?. Plus, I imagine that they'll want to work Holmes in more given his 1st round draft spot. One thing is for sure though is that Cedric Wilson was all but invisible last night.
When Ben gets back and as Washington and Holmes get more comfortable, I think you're going to see more of a 50/50 split with the Steelers offense. There are just too many weapons in the passing game. And it will keep the defense more honest, which will open up more room for FWP. I'm not saying they'll turn into Air Coryell II, but I think the Steeler WR who emerges as the #2 will have more value than people are used to. Right now I'm thinking Washington is going to be that guy this year.
