Tampa Bay is looking like a great matchup against JAX.

According to Rotoworld, Garrard is to miss the next 2 weeks. Jones-Drew left the game late with an apparent leg injury. JAX is in Trouble.

DENVER at home vs Green Bay might be decent

TENNESSEE at home vs. Oakland

sleeper pick....JETS at home vs. Buffalo

David Garrard left Monday night's game with an ankle sprain, and did not return after halftime. According to ESPN, coach Jack Del Rio estimates that he'll miss the next two weeks with the injury.Garrard was forced to step up in the pocket, and Colts lineman Ed Johnson fell into his leg, causing it to bend awkwardly. Garrard walked to the locker room, returned for some more first-half series, but wasn't healthy enough to play after halftime. He completed 8-of-12 passes for 72 yards before leaving. Quinn Gray will replace him. Oct. 22 - 9:32 pm et

Get the Giants D if they're available. Cleo Lemon and the Flounders with no Ronnie Brown; tasty.
Visiting this thread to make sure this thought was included. Giants make a decent play for the rest of the season, but especially for Week 8. I also like the Giants in Week 16 against Buffalo.

It's slim pickins for WW Defenses in my league, but Tampa is the one I'm targeting. I think Denver or SF could be serviceable too.

Im really not crazy about TB vs JAX even with Gray at QB. This will be a low-scoring defensive battle with both teams grinding out yardage on the ground. Wont be many opportunities for INTs or sacks.

Packers D was just dropped in one league. Most of those listed here are not available.
No kidding--the NYGiants, f'rinstance, are the #1 defense with my league's scoring! GB was on our wire last week and I was fortunate enough to pick them up, pairing with Minnesota.

Just picked up Indy as a bye-week filler for Dallas. They should be good for a few sacks against Testaverde.

The Giants, the Chargers, Chicago???? What are you ppl in ....6 team leagues?

Sneaky play of the week: New Orleans vs. SF. In our league, the last 4 opponents DEF (PIT, SEA, BAL, NYG) playing SF have scored an average of 20+ points. With Dilfer still in there and Gore hurting, I think NO is a good play and likely available in most leagues.

In deeper leagues, Cleveland coming off a bye @ StL
The Rams are giving up mad sacks and picks right now.Ravens and Seahawks just lit them up the last two weeks.
My fear is... the bleeding will stop with the Rams, and it is in STL. Doesn't mean much, but Browns at home, I'd feel a bit more optimistic. My gut is, ... a great pickup for this week.I like the NO vs SF...even with Smith in there. He's hungry to get back in (perhaps too soon), and will try to prove much. Alex Smith has only thrown 1 INT this year.... course he's only thrown 1 TD... and the natives are gettttttttttting verrrrrrry restless here in SF with the ultra-conservative playbook of Nolan/Hostler. This should be a wild game.... many turnovers, and many TDs, believe it or not.... so pending your scoring system... be aware.

Did you see Gray play last night? He was throwing picks all over the place. He was brutal. I am absolutely loving the Bucs this week if he's the starter. I like the calls with the Giants and Titans as well but the Bucs are looking outstanding in my opinion.

Umm cuz they were in catchup mode shen he came in. If you read my post I think the Bucs-Jags game will be a very low-scoring grind it out game. Something similar to TB vs TEN

But that was because they we trailing. I think if he starts the next game, JAX will RUN all of their RBs to the ground and try to run off as much time off the clock to prevent turnovers.

Indy was ahead 7-0 when Gray came in. That was hardly catch-up mode. I did read your post and I agree this will be a low-scoring game in all probability. So if you're in a league that rewards points for lower points allowed that's a good thing. Combined with how bad Gray looked and the high potential for sacks and turnovers, I think the Bucs are a Top 5 defense this week.

My thoughts and move this morning. As stated earlier most of the Def named in this thread have been LONG gone in my leagues. If SF gets any worse they`ll look like Notre Dame :excited:

I'd feel better about the Saints if they were at home and if Dilfer was starting. With Smith coming back, I could see all the stars lining up just right for the Niners. If Gore sits, though, I can't see them winning at all.

Always love these posts as they had so much to the discussion. It's sad, however, at the apparent need to feel superior to all of the posters in this thread by making such a comment. You know, every league is not the same as yours, so perhaps the size of the league is smaller. However, it may surprise you but your league(s) scoring system is not utilized across the board, so teams like the Giants -- who were not ranked in the top ten in many if any preseason projections, and also played like crap the first two weeks -- could very well be available. Some leagues place a large premium on acquisition fees which may make unnecessary defensive team moves not worth the price to many owners.

Not only that but if your league handles Waiver moves on a weekly list basis you may not feel like wasting your place on the WW just to pick up a defense. In my league, you can make unlimited moves starting on Fridays (for a fee) and so if you want to replace your defense then you can do that. That's what everyone in my league has done. There hasn't been a single defense dropped since the draft. Everyone has decided that a higher spot on the WW list each week is more important than picking up a defense permanently. Because of that, the Giants, Bucs, Vikings, Titans and several other top defenses are still available. I drafted the Jags and have been replacing them whenever I didn't want to start them rather than dropping them permanently and costing myself a spot on the WW list.
