All have some very strong arguments. Discuss.
Maybe I should expound a bit.Peterson has 4 returns for TDs, tying record.Aldon has 7 1/2 sacks in 11 games - on pace for double digit sacks on a resurgent 49ers team.Von has been a beast for the Broncos since game 6 of the season.Similar argument can be made for KJ Wright, a beast for the Seahawks since about game 6.

Will Peterson's special teams excellence factor into DROY voting?

If not, Miller is the answer. Honestly, I think Miller is the answer regardless.

You don't think Aldon Smith has any claim on the award? I realize he doesn't get the pub, but the 49ers are running away with the division because of their defense.

Miller and I don't think it's too close. You can search these forums and simply gauge fans reactions and ...I just don't think it's close

I also think that there is a segment of the pool that are looking for any reason for Denver's success besides Tebow and would embrace whatever reason they can find. Von falls in that category. Im not saying Von has been anything less than great. But Denver's defense just wasn't very good the first 5 games of the season. On the other hand, the 49ers have been consistently dominant and Aldon season compares well to Ware's first season. There is definitely some :fishing: going on here. But there is some truth to the statement as well.

We get it. Our opinion is wrong.

Von Miller's season is already better than Ware's first season.

Miller is arguably the DPOY, much less the DROY.

Peterson, for all his ST success, has been one of the worst starting cornerbacks in the entire league. He's been horrible this year -- honestly, he's more deserving of least valuable DROY than most valuable.

Aldon Smith has been sick for us, but you gotta give it up for Miller. Unless Smith puts up a string of great games to finish the season, Miller is shoe in for DROY

 rookie Ware 8 sacks, 3 FF, 1 PD, 47 tackles, 11 assists.

Von Miller:10.5 sacks, 3 FF, 4 PD, 46 tackles, 12 assists (11 games).

Aldon Smith: 7.5 sacks, 4 PD, 1 FF, 15 tackles, 4 assists.

Denvers defense wasn't great the first 5 games, that's true. consider that they were transitioning from a 3-4 into a 4-3, with an entirely new defensive coaching staff, coming off of a historically bad defense (i.e. only 5 teams in the history of the NFL allowed more points and yards than the 2010 Broncos).

I voted for the field because Von Miller is injured and Aldon Smith has tailed off his torrid pace after racking up 6.5 of his 7.5 sacks in the first six games but has only had 1 over the last five game. It seems the opposition wasn't as concerned about him early on but after they started to game plan for him they have been able to neutralize him.

A couple of guys got early buzz due to strong camps like, the Tampa Bay DE Da'Quan Bowers 2nd rd, Tampa MLB Mason Foster 3rd. rd, a few DBs, New England CB Ras Dowling 2nd rd, Detroit DT Nick Fairley 1st rd, but for any number of reasons they didn't blow up out of the gates as anticipated.

Others have been very consitent and steady like, DE JJ Watt Texans, DE/OLB Ryan Kerrigan Washington, DT Corey Liuget San Diego, DE Adrian Clayborn Tampa Bay, DT Phil Taylor Cleveland, DE Jabaal Sheard (2nd rd) Cleveland.

And some others are starting to click right now and they may wind up being extremely good. DE/OLB Sam Acho 4th rd. Arizona, OLB Brooks Reed 2nd rd. Houston, St. Louis DE Robert Quinn 1st. rd.

If Miller hadn't gotten injured he automatically gets the vote. He is the most talented of this crop of defenders but their are some pretty good ones and one could blow up down the stretch to break the tape in front of him at the finish line so I vote the field right now.
