Deion Branch released... (1 Viewer)

seems like one or two of these guys could be re-signed after the season starts
:goodposting: One of these two things is happening:1. Re-sign Branch after start of season so as not to guarantee salary; or2. Do the same thing with Gaffney if/when he is healthy.Regardless, I do think this is a bump to Lloyd, not so much Edleman who has proven all he can really do is fill Welker's role which is already taken by Welker.

I'm not a big believer in overspending in desperation, but I would support Ireland giving Branch a boatload of money on a two year deal. He would be a decent enough player for them and should be a good locker room influence.

Edelman is really a backup to Welker, right?I am thinking Slater now becomes the other outside starting WR?

Patriots claimed former Vikings WR Kerry Taylor from Waviers last week. Did the Pats keep Taylor over Branch etc?

If they did, why do i have this dread feeling that Taylor will be the next Hank Basket?

Imagine they'll sign him (or Gaffney) after season starts.

Unless either would prefer playing for the 1-15 Dolphins.

Deion ran for the $$ once. And despite the pay day, he learned the hard way that things aren't greener w/o Tom Brady.

The starting outside WR will essentially be Hernandez (who played 3/4 of the snaps as a WR last year to begin with). Either Branch will get resigned after the first week and/or they will re-sign Gaffney once he is healthy.

Bump Lloyd. My only concern is Pats O-Line and if Brady will have time to stretch the field. May be more Welker and Hernandez underneath due to the poor pass blocking.

Going to MIA makes a lot of sense, at least financially. No salary vs a salary (+signing bonus) and then call it a career?

seems better than a one year at a time slog with NE - with nothing guaranteed

Word is that Deion Branch's locker is still intact in Foxboro. He'll be back at some point.
