I think the Giants are an excellent pick.

Just as likely to win as Indianapolis, and only slightly less likely to win than Tennessee.
No future value whatsoever. You could use Indianapolis in weeks 13/15/17 and Tennessee in week 16.
Equally popular as Indianapolis, and picked only once for every seven times Tennessee is picked.

Add in that if Jax pulls the upset about 75% of pools get eliminated.

:goodposting:

Also, I mentioned in another thread that the G-Men have quietly been playing better on defense. Over their last five games, they have faced Charles, Forte, Peterson and McCoy twice. NONE of them reached 68 yards rushing, and New York surrendered only one rushing TD combined in the five games.

I don't think they are fearing Rashad Jennings all that much.

And sad as I am to say it, Eli is looking at a career day tomorrow.

I can't tell you how many times over the past several weeks I have been rooting for Jacksonville, as a ton of people (naturally) took their opponent. Almost every time, by the middle of the 1st quarter, I am saying out loud "Holy Jesus, this team is amazingly TERRIBLE!"

It seems as though tomorrow will follow the same script, but I guess we can always hope for a miracle.

Oh yeah, Tennessee is most likely to win. However taking into consideration future value, separation, etc., it doesnt necessarily make them the best pick.

I not sure I see much future value with the Titans either. I know you mentioned week 16, but you think they will be a bigger favorite AT Jacksonville than San Diego will be at home against the Raiders? I've had the Chargers penciled in there for awhile. The Raiders already beat them this year, and we rarely sweep them.

Took the Giants, obviously.... 84% of the pool about to get dumped!!!!

Makes up for last week with the Cowboys/Vikings heartbreaker.

Gotta share this with you.

I am in a massive pool this finance guy here in NYC runs, over 5000 entries, hundred bucks a pop. 500 grand.

It's so big that starting in week 11, you have to pick two teams, if there are more than a certain number of entries.

It was down to 757 this week. 505 took Tennessee. Another 62 took the Colts. Effing bloodbath.

Me and 147 other geniuses took the Giants.

I was having the same debate you were, Giants or Titans. My thing was, I liked a few games later on in Tennessee's schedule. Didn't LOVE anything, but saw a couple of possibilities. The other Jags game for example.

I hate the rest of the Giants schedule, none of their game hit the criteria (home game, non-divisional opponent) the way the Raiders did. And you and I both know the Raiders record on early East Coast games.

Shoot me a PM, buddy, I will send you the website.

I couldn't sleep all week after the Vikes blew that game! This more than makes up for it.

Next week is very tough and I'm the only one who still can use Denver. I'm assuming the rest of the folks will be on Cincy at home against the Browns. C'MON CLEVELAND!!!!

Yeah, I'm not going near that one.

i can use Seattle at home against Minny, the only other weeks I would use them would be 16/17, and I have other teams I like those weeks (DEN, CIN, SF)

Looking at week 11 - I really like the Texans over the Raiders. Texans at home, Pryor potentially out, Kubiak back for an emotional lift. Issue is the 7 losses in a row.

Other considerations would be Cardinals over Jags (hate road teams travelling 2000 miles) or ???

What are others playing?

Thread title updated to reflect current week.

Back and forth between Houston and Arizona for me. Houston has lost 7 straight. Hard to trust them. The Arizona line just moved from 7 to 7.5. Takes a lot of cash to move games off of 3 and 7. The sharps are on the Cards for sure, and that's where I'm leaning.

I don't see how the Jags will be able to move the ball. You can't really run on Arizona, and Peterson should eliminate Shorts. And the Cards know they will be in a tie for 1st place if they win, and New Orleans beats SF later in the day. They should be focused. Helps that JAX won last week, too. Arizona can't completely overlook them.

I'm sure it's a minor oversight but know you have lots of $ at stake - what do you mean Arizona will be tied for first?

I would rather point it out then see you lose incorrectly believing something.

I have Seattle left in one pool. Their OL is a mess and Vikings can get some decent pressure on the QB. They also have been struggling against the run and ADP ran all over them last year for 182 and 2 TDs. They have their bye, NO, @SF - Im not sure if they will be looking past MIN. Idk if they are an auto lock.

Oakland is playing their second road game in a row. Pryor is banged up which makes Houston a little more appealing to me.

Need to look AZ Jax some more. I would like this spot a lot more if AZ were at home obv

If you have SEA still available, this week is a no-brainer IMO.

I'm praying AZ can get me through to next week, as I'm the only entry left who has NE, SF and DEN still available.

With Detroit at home next week against the Bucs, I should be able to put the rest of the schedule on cruise control.

Liking the Cards more - can play the Texans hosting the Jags week 12
Yeah, one of the other minor reasons I like the Cards is because I took the Giants last week. I don't like playing against the same team in back-to-back weeks, or even 3 weeks out of 4. The odds of the team you are fading accidentally winning one will catch up to you. And though the Raiders aren't great, they've won three games and been competitive in three others. JAX has won one game, and were competitive in one game.

A few of updates since we began our discussion a couple of days ago. That Arizona line which opened at 6.5 and moved to 7.5 is now at 9. Money is pouring in on the Cards, and with good reason. Again, I don't see how JAX will move the ball with any consistency.

The Texans are also looking like a solid option, even more than a few days ago. Pryor is said to be a game-time decision, and although McGloin looked good in preseason action, playing a real game against Wade's defense in Houston is another thing entirely. I can't envision McGloin matching points with Keenum and the Texans' run game.

And although the game is a pick 'em (for some strange reason), I think the Jets are a sneaky play. Coming off a bye, Buffalo without both starting WRs, and the Bills won't be able to run on the Jets. It would take big ones to take a team on the road in a division game -- I get it -- but just throwing it out there.

Pool of appx 3900 down to 150 ($100/entry). 1 entry left for me.

DET CHI DEN IND GB CIN CAR SF SEA NO used

Struggling between HOU, ARI, and NYG. Really hate to use HOU due to match up next week with JAX, but with McGloin behind center, tough to pass up. Just not feeling confident about ARI coming east and JAX has been playing better of late. Really want to pick NYG (ya think, based on my moniker), but not fully confident there either (despite 3 game win streak, it has come in somewhat ideal circumstances (MIN w/ Campbell at QB;PHI with Barkley at QB; OAK which ran the ball well). That is my main concern, that GB goes Lacy heavy and controls the clock plus runs wild PLUS inconsistent NYG offense.

Going HOU, best option I see that I have left is KC at home against SD for next week. Good matchup, but AFC West rivalry games are always tricky.

HOU,CIN (can't pick but would not touch) and ARI will be the heavy picks (92 left with HOU, 20 have used CIN, 3 have used ARI) so also weighing the "go against the herd" option (only 13 left that can pick NYG)

Thoughts two hours before kickoff?

I'm going HOU, by the way. If McGloin beats me against Wade's top-ranked pass defense, then it wasn't meant to be.

Yep... I took a 2-7 team in week 11 of a survivor pool. :lmao:

ETA: Good luck to all of you non-dummies who are moving on.

Stuck with this, mostly because I over slept and forgot to check before 10:00am. I would have likely moved to the Texans - now I need to consider them again next week.

RN...please stick around for your analysis, as your insights were solid. Sorry HOU screwed the pooch today...hope they got it out of their system!

I had Houston pencilled in for next week as well, but I don't think you can trust this team to field a functioning offense next week. They also just made a UDFA quarterback look really good.

I am looking elsewhere, I think.....

Detroit is going to be the heavy favorite, but I used them already, so I am between KC and HOU. Not liking KC, as AFC West rivalry games are tricky. BAL/NYJ tough to call as both are Jekyll and Hyde teams.

Right now, rolling the dice with HOU. Have more talent than JAX and Keenum should be motivated by the possibility of playing for a starting job.

Yeah, I thought all of this last week. Learn from my mistake. I broke rule #1 of survivor pools..... "Don't rely on a bad team to beat another bad team." At the time I took them, they had lost 7 games in a row. Now it's 8. Have fun.

Went with NO this week, nice to have the week put away, although it was too close for comfort. Others picked KC, Det, Houston . (Only 4 left in mine)

Gutless bunch.

And more importantly, I can stop beating myself up now. I would have taken DET this week, and they lost too.

9 people split the pot because everyone lost today. WHEW! I can live with that.

Houston looks like they have quit. It's scary to take them.
This run is all you need to see.

I tweeted D.J. Swearinger to ask if he scrubbed the Rashad Jennings tread marks off of himself yet.
Good news...listened and did not take HOU

Bad news...went with KC instead. Think that was worse.

As an avid Jet detractor, hindsight makes me wonder what I was thinking not going with BAL. Guess Rex going back to Baltimore scared me off. My pool now down to 20 players from around 3900. Bummer but what can you do.

Good luck to those still alive!
