Democratic Convention (1 Viewer)

Doubtful. Most likely that more people watched online in 2016 which would make these comparisons even worse.

But...as I stated way back...the format is really not the fault of the DNC (but their candidate is)....
The RNC will face the same problem with the format this year.
I think the online numbers may be significant.   The old white people demo is probably non virtual.

it will be interesting how the cable news channel viewership changes.  I watched Fox and msnbc.  I liked the approach of using commentary that Fox did.

And I think Fox did it to limit the number of quacks they would have to show talking at the RNC and defend it by saying they used the same approach for both parties.

Every. Single. Time I pop over there I‘m more glad Joe manages this forum the way he does.

*and before anyone misinterprets what I mean.  I do not mean the perceived political bias management here.

JFC that place. I second your statement on Joe. There was even some d-bag in there posting about FBGs. The obsession runs deep. Glad Noonan showed me what ignorant racist blowhards they have over there.

Yeah...when you come out of your basement more than once a year, you run a higher risk of messing up.

We can better compare the two after Biden's second attempt, later this year.
Maybe, something more comparable to President Trump' 1.5 hours....not 24 minutes.
Trump rarely gets through a public statement these days without a flub. Watching videos of him on the trail in 2016 versus today you can see that he’s deteriorated. He’s put on a lot of weight, sounds tired, not as sharp.

President Trump' 1.5 hours....not 24 minutes.
The things we find important or care about today are fascinating.  Now one must be able to babble on talking about themselves and how smart, great, all knowing and all powerful they are for hours for us to find them “mentally competent“?

I really can’t believe these 2 parties have put us all in the position of having to select between these two.  If this is the best the greatest country in history, filled with over 300 million, people can do I’m honestly extremely concerned about the path we are on.

Bidens' just a lot more efficient than Trump.  Takes Trump 1.5 hours what Biden can do in 20 minutes.

Trump supporters are acting more and more like the Mendelbaum Family from Seinfeld these days.

Listen to him 4 years ago and listen to him in these press conferences he does now. Tell me he’s not tired, doesn’t flub, say odd things.

If you are being honest you will see and hear it.

Trump is great at connecting with the audience at his rallies when it's mostly impromptu. But at prepared public speaking he wouldn't even be selected by a middle school FFA team in the event based on what I've seen for the last 3 and 1/2 years. Low energy, carelessness with diction, lack of sincerity.

In the debates, I have to admit that Trump has the edge going in.

Hey Guys. Let's please keep our focus here. I don't want this to get into a mocking another site thing. Thanks.

Well technically we’re not mocking the other site.  We’re commenting on the posters/posts on that site’s message board.

If somebody from FantasyFootballPalooza.com posted something like “that Orton to Olsen guy over at the FBG boards is a clown” I don’t think anyone would see that as a criticism of FBG.

Just my dos centavos.

Thanks @OrtonToOlsen

That gets into a bigger and maybe more interesting point. And one I know not everyone agrees with me on. It's the idea the posters and the discussion DO reflect on us. I think they do.

Of course there's the standard legalese "the opinions don't reflect yada yada yada". But I think there is some reflection.

I'll often get messages where a poster reports something offensive that is one of 5,000 posts that day that weren't offensive and it'll say, "Good to know Joe is cool with _________" and quote the post I've never seen. Sure that's not really fair. But I do get where they're coming from.

There are lots of different opinions here obviously. But I do hope we can keep relative agreement on how we talk about them.

The expectations of Biden were so high last night.

  1. Maintain a pulse
  2. Read a sentence
Mission accomplished!
I think maybe the point of those Fox commentators was not that Biden had done well - he had - but that the mistake was in constantly hammering to the base and usually casual voters alike that Biden could not string together more than a sentence. It was abundantly obvious what a foolish strategic decision that was. I think that was the point Rove, Perino, Wallace and others were making.

Does anyone have any real way to measure / compare how much viewership the "convention" has been seeing?

I'll be honest, I would normally watch some on TV but I haven't watched any other than bits of video I see on Twitter (like the Kamala Harris tweet).

I'm not sure it really matters, but was curious how this was going.

On the upside, I'm assuming they saved a ton of money.
Not sure if anyone answered this but:

Disagree. Trump could do what Biden does in 20 minutes. Biden couldn't handle 1.5 hours.

POTUS and VPOTUS should be briefed on such a thing...and now getting briefed is interfering with transition?

Notify the people being investigated of the possible breach?  So they can continue to lie and cover up...also monitor Trump himself seems unsupported by the facts.

You should read the recently released items from the congressional committees...its not a pretty site for the administration or DOJ.

And yes...if Bannon was part of a fraud (which he was indicted for) he should  be arrested as should anyone involved.

“These newly released documents indicate that a foreign government was trying to influence the Clinton campaign through a campaign associate and the FBI was seeking a FISA warrant. However, the Bureau, as it is supposed to do, required that Hillary Clinton be defensively briefed about the matter so she could engage in corrective action."

In regards to Trump....it wouldn't be good law enforcement if they gave the people TRYING to get foreign influence a heads up. Trump himself asked for it on national television.

If it was a true national security issue, your first responsibility is the security of the country and campaign, not building an investigative case.
