Derrick Mason may be moved before or on Draft Day (1 Viewer)

Three or four teams have inquired with the Ravens about Derrick Mason's availability.

Baltimore is reportedly in wait-and-see mode concerning Mason, but could consider dealing him for a third-round pick. A possible trade could be a boon for second-year pro Demetrius Williams.

I was sipping the Demetrius Williams Kool-Aid even before this.. but now I'm jugging it  .

 Somebody would give up a 3rd for Mason? Wow. In a league where Edge and Alexander couldn't get a 2nd a few years back, I'm shocked Mason would pull a 3rd.

W/ his payroll of 4 yrs - 20 mil.. I bet they would unload him for even less.

3/2/2005: Signed a four-year, $20 million contract. The deal included a $7 million signing bonus. 2007-2009: $3,000,000, 2010: Free Agent

As far as a fantasy perspective is concerned...how does this affect Mark Clayton's value? I drafted Clayton 2 years ago when he was a rookie because he has been compared to Marvin Harrison and runs great routes. No I don't think he will be a Harrison but if you are compared to him then that must count for something. Not to mention he has increasingly done well and to be on Baltimore and to pull off 939 yards and an average 5 td's is pretty good for a second year player behind a Derrick Mason.

I sure hope this happens. As a Mason owner in a 18 spot Dynasty League, I would be forced to cut him if he is a Raven come fall.

I think he still has a good 2-3 years left in the tank, and could be productive depending on where he goes.

What would make anyone think Dem. Williams would have value? What did mason do as the ravens #2 Wr in 2006? The #2 Wr in Bal. is really the 3rd option behind Heap and Clayton. Very litle value in him even if this happens IMO.

How is he a free agent, considering you have made it your quest to own all players named Williams?

Up based on more opportunities. Down if Williams can't keep teams from double-covering Clayton. I actually like the idea of Clayton surpassing Mason this year as oppossing teams focused on Mason this season. The chance to have a season where the #1-WR-of-the-future emerges into that role quietly before he becomes targetted by defenses and over-valued in fantasy.

They will be mine. O yes, They will be mine.
He might be a nice fit in New Orleans.
I agree, and Im not a big fan of Mason but Id love to see him get traded to the Saints. They need a veteran and reliable #2 or 1b. Mason could fill that role nicely I think

No way is Mason worth a 3rd.
If they're asking for a 3rd, they'd take a 4th. The Vikings high 4th rounder would be worth it.If they want a high 3rd, they're delusional.
Thats what I'm saying.. I mean Sea only asking for a 3rd for DJax.. and this is a deep WR draft class.. no way a team would drop a 1st day for 33 yr old WR. A 2nd Day would be more like it.
Detroit Lions list of moves:McCown for Raiders 5thRaiders 5th for Mason

hmmmmmmWasn't Clayton the #2 WR last yr.. 67 rec 939 yds 5 TDs not too bad.

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome produced the biggest revelation of the day when he said there could be a quarterback that the team would take with the 29th pick of the first round.

With this is mind, is there some trade scenario that might involve

Boller/Mason for Moss/?

Just a thought.

Exactly. Clayton would be the big winner here, not Williams.

Some would say he was #1, as Mason finished with 68/750/2.I would say "who cares"? They were basiaclly 1a and 1b, neither a top option. Now that Mason is gone, I see Clayton with over 1,000 and 7 (which isn't that much of a bump)

Toomer is coming off injury, Eli could use a reliable veteran target.

Jerry Reese make a call, but don’t give up a 3rd.

Assuming they could get a 3rd, why would the Ravens even consider this move?

They have a short window to make a legit run at the SB. After DW, there is not a legit 3rd WR, Mason has been a clubhouse leader not to mention both a solid contributor and 3rd down favorite of McNair so why would Balt trade a starter for an unproven commodity when their window of oppty closes after the 08 season?

Gotta be Trent Edwards
I just checked McNairs contract..6/10/2006: Signed a five-year, $32 million contract. The deal included an initial roster bonus of $11 million and contains $12 million in incentives. 2007: $3 million (+ $1 million option bonus), 2008: $4 million, 2009-2010: $6 million, 2011: Free Agent. His cap charge is $8.45 million in both 2009 and 2010.

So its safe to say that he's gone by 2009.. drafting a QB this yr would make sense.

Also; w/ the poster about keeping mason.. why? You have a rising star in Mark Clayton; The 2nd or 3rd best TE in the league w/ Heap, and it sounds like De Williams is overacheiving from his 4th round draft position.

Time to cut the fat off.

Pass me the Demetrius Williams Clarence Moore please. Free agent in my league, all over it
ummmmm; I think Moore's days are #ed as well..

2005: dressed for 4 games last yr and catch 3 balls for 59 yds

2006: dressed for 10 games last yr and catch 2 balls for :boxing: 1yd.

B.J. Sams-RB- Ravens Feb. 28 - 7:42 pm et

Ravens extended one-year contracts to restricted free agents B.J. Sams, a return man, and Clarence Moore and Devard Darling, both wideouts.

The tenders are believed to be for the $850,000 minimum, according to the Carroll County Times. Sams is currently rehabbing from a broken leg. Darling and Moore are reserves with little to no upside for the future.
