Derrick Ward (1 Viewer)

What is Derrick Ward's dynasty value now?

Is Jacobs "supposed" injury problems worth making Ward a viable trade deadline target?

What does the shark pool see in him for the rest of the year?

A couple of us at work were arguing that Ward would suit the Giants better in a more prominent role (when fully healthy) than Jacobs would. I think Ward is solid but not cut out for that role. Regardless, this discussion turned into an argument and ended at a disgruntled stalemate. So, I came on here to see what the Sharks had to say about this.

I'd have to agree with you. IMO, Ward is decent rb and a solid backup. Carrying the full load has led to a few injury concerns. Jacobs' has impressively (and suprisingly) shown a decent set of hands coming out of the backfield.

If Jacobs went down again, don't you think it would be more of Droughn's show, with DW coming in on 3rd/passing downs? Earlier in the season it was all DW, but I think Droughns has shown that he can perform vary well and DW's injury history may have hindered his hold on the backup position. Thoughts?

This is how I see it. I don't value Ward very highly personally and wouldn't give more than a WR3 for him at most.

I don't think Droughns has passed Ward on the depth chart of starters per se. I think he's a vet and an excellent blocker so he's a perfect backup RB. When/IF it comes time to discuss a starter due to injury, I think Ward would fill in for Brandon.

:blackdot: If all 3 are healthy, it's Jacobs-Ward-Droughns. But Ward isn't healthy right now.

I don't move a guys dynasty value substantially ever midseason, but obviously his value has went down a bit. It's always difficult to do it, but the time to sell him was after his 1st productive game sans Jacobs (because at that time it did look like he'd be a nice chunk....if/when Jacobs got healthy).I think we're seeing the injury-plagued Ward of the past. They just had that Tiki guy there to make it an afterthought. If you think Ward will make a return to the scene, go after him. I agree with a poster above, I probably wouldn't give above a low WR3 type. I could see the possibility of the G-men taking a Round 3/4 type RB that could make Ward an afterthought before the conclusion of the 2008 season
