Desmond Clark Hurt? (1 Viewer)

Bob Wiley

I watched the Chicago game and saw Desmond Clark get hurt, but haven't heard anything on how bad the injury was? Anyone know anything?

Sprained foot, questionable for Week 4.

Hang on to him until you hear anything further. I am. Rex looks Dez's way a LOT.

He came back in the 3rd quarter of the game, so I guess they taped him and let him play. I agree Rex targets him a lot so he is a decent #2 TE or bye week fill in, heck even starter depending on league size.

Right, nobody cares about Super King's team, so let's stop making the same comment.

Now, did Desmond Clark finish out the game?? Was he on the field during the 4th Q??

He went to the locker room on a cart, and I never saw him come back. I wasn't watching THAT closely, so I can't swear to it, but I didn't think he came back.

It's Monday. Take a deep breath and wait until the games are actually over for the week and you'll be able to get some more info on this superstar's ankle injury.

sprained ankle...figures picked him up and played him this week
same here. no matter. put up the 4th highest score ever scored in my league.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see the entire top 10 list. Don't forget to list the dates, too.
Actually I was hoping he would include each teams starting lineups AND reserves to better gauge how good a job coaching each top 10 team did.As far as Clark - he did not return after leaving in the 3rd quarter.

I noticed that, after he pulled up favoring his right foot, he kinda grabbed at the top of the foot - near the instep. Seemed a little odd the way he grabbed at it.

Clark actually limped off two plays before with the injury, tried to come back in and play with it but got halfway through the next play before sitting down in the endzone and limp off with the trainers before being carted off to the locker room. Gilmore replaced him in the few sets they did use a tight end after that, but for the most part it became a 3 WR offensive set the rest of the game which is when rashied davis started making plays

Clark left the lockerroom in a walking boot.
picked this off of the yahoo news from KFFL. Not a link but it seems to confirm the boot.Sep 25 Chicago Bears TE Desmond Clark (foot/ankle) suffered an injury to his foot and ankle during Week 3 and was taken to the locker room on a cart. Clark was wearing a walking boot following the game and his status will be re-evaluated later this week.

So if Clark ends up out for a few weeks, does Gilmore have enough skills to be worth picking up ? I am assuming he is the backup.

Clark carted off with foot injury

September 25, 2006

BY BRAD BIGGS Staff Reporter

MINNEAPOLIS -- Three games into the season, and tight end Desmond Clark is already more than halfway to his receiving totals for all of 2005.

That's why the loss of Clark to what the Bears called a sprained left foot could be damaging. He was injured on the first possession of the second half and was taken to the locker room on a cart.

Clark had only two catches for 31 yards Sunday, but his 12 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown on the season have been a big lift. After catching only 24 passes each of the last two seasons, he has become a fixture for quarterback Rex Grossman in the middle of the field, helping to occupy safeties.

''We're definitely going to miss him, but we've got guys who can step up and fill his spot,'' Grossman said. ''Gabe [Reid] and [John] Gilmore will step up and make plays.

''Des is a good player. There are a lot of times where the middle of the field is open, and he runs great routes. It's not anything brilliant, we're just playing football.''

In other words, using the tight end like the team hasn't in recent years.

''I've been there before,'' Gilmore said when asked if he could fill in. ''I'm more concerned about his health than anything.''

Clark, who has missed only two games since signing with the Bears in 2003, said he would be fine but declined to elaborate.

Still a mystery, but not looking good. From Chicagosports.com:

Team in tight spot if Clark injury is serious

By John Mullin

Tribune staff reporter

September 25, 2006, 10:19 PM CDT

Normally coach Lovie Smith is able to give some sort of medical assessment of injuries on the day following games. That he was vague Monday on the condition of tight end Desmond Clark, who left the field Sunday on a cart and left the stadium with a plastic boot on his injured left ankle, was not a good sign.

Clark left the Minnesota game after pulling up and hobbling on a third-quarter play, and Smith said Monday, "we don't know how serious it will be." If it is serious—a high ankle sprain typically means at least four weeks of rest—the Bears' offense will be searching for alternatives.

Clark is tied with Bernard Berrian with 12 catches after three games after catching 24 total in each of the last two seasons.

We really dont know at this point whether it is an ankle or a foot injury, do we??

Good God...I lost 3 starters this week and might lose Chris freakin Henry if he keeps puking out the car window at 3 in the morning. :wall: :wall: :wall:

For what it's worth, Gilmore makes a decent fill in for Clark. Good hands, and this year's Bears have obviously figured out that they have a TE and that he is indeed eligible to receive passes. Don't know about his speed or toughness, but might be worth a roster spot.

This thread will be usefull all week for TE mandatory leagues. Please post info in this thread. Though Clark would be a great bye week filler for Shockey. I hope he is ok.

Agreed. But more so, I honestly think Clark is going to be a top ten TE this year. This injury puts a minor damper on that perhaps, but I honestly believe the title of "bye week filler" is severely undervalueing Clark at this point.

Id love some insight into this as well. Got Clark and Stevens right now, gonna put a bid in on Eric Johnson, but not sure if I should drop Clark, or someone else. Figured Johnson could start for me until Davis comes back, then Stevens should be back by then.

My opinion, after watching the replay, is that it is probably a good bet to expect Clark to miss 6-8 weeks. Hopefully Lovie throws us a bone asap.

Already dumped him to pick up Eric Johnson, need a bye week filler for Shockey, too bad for Clark as that passing offense is the surprise of the year so far, well at least to me anyways ...

Clark isn't listed on the inury report for the upcoming game this week......per nfl.com/injuries
are we sure that isnt last week's injury report, similar to the Seattle injury report that lists Alexander as probable currently??

Per Lovie Smith Wed Press Conference (Bears Website)......he says that Des Clark's foot is feeling much better and he hopes he will be able to "go" a little bit later (Thursday).....
