Determining percentage of irregular shape in a circle (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know of an online tool that will tell me the percentage of a circle that is contained within an irregular shape within that circle? I can't find anything that will give me that percentage. Ultimately, it would allow me to draw a shape within a circle and it would tell me what percentage of that circle is enclosed in the shape. It's for a landscaping plan that I am putting together and I'm trying to determine the percentage of the root zone of a tree that will be impacted by some root pruning that is being done.

Can you calculate the area of the irregular shape?

Use an online tool and draw just the part of the shape that is inside the circle. Get the area from the tool.

Use math and determine the total area inside the circle.  Area =  3.14159 * radius2     Or, just draw the circle in the tool separately and get its area.

Percent in the circle =    ShapeArea  /  CircleTotal

Open the image in an image viewing program, then use the cursor to find the XY coordinates of boundaries of the irregular shape. Use math to find the total area.

Subtract the total area of the circle given the XY coordinates of its center and an edge.
That sounds like the easiest method.

There are actually two shapes. One is a segment of the circle but not necessarily from the middle. There will also be a square in the circle.

This is high school level stuff then right?  Print the sketch out, weight the sketch, then cut out the shaded section and weigh that.  The ratio is the %.  Obviously you need a kitchen or drug scale, not a bathroom scale.  I don't know of a program that gives you area of an irregular shape, but maybe there is one.

I do free-lance mathematics on the side so I'd be happy to help. I charge $60/hour. PM me if you're interested. I'll hammer it out quickly; business is slow.

We need more details...first is this for real life or a school problem?  Please provide as many details as possible.
