Detroit homers: Brian Calhoun (1 Viewer)

So Jones is hurt and now Bell got dinged up and arguably isn't really that great anyways. Duckett is limited in his abilities. Does Calhoun have a chance to steal this job? The guy was great at Wisconsin and is a very dynamic pass catcher. Does anyone have any insight into his position on the team?

I watched the Lions last preseason game and Calhoun showed little burst and seemed to be a slower, more easily tackled Tatum Bell. I would not count on much from Calhoun. This is coming from someone who owns K Jones, T Bell and B Calhoun in a dynasty league.

Is anyone else amazed he looks like complete garbage after the great college career he had? i've never been a calhoun owner, but he is one player i thought would surprise from that draft class and he has done zilch.

I would take Calhoun's performance right now with a grain of salt. He is less than a year removed from ACL surgery. The fact that he is playing at all at this point is pretty encouraging. If he has value, it is likely next year and beyond, not '07.

He didn't look good last year before the injury either. He still seems to get a lot of hype for a 4th string RB.

Not amazed, given the ACL tear. I have him in one dynasty league and will be dropping him as soon as waivers open.Probably worth keeping an eye on to see if he starts to improve as the healing goes on, but for now I think he's WW fodder. Unless you're in extremely deep leagues I think you're better off using the roster spot on other sleepers.

He has no chance based on his poor performance. I don't see him ever being a relevant fantasy player.
This is correct, he's never going to be a guy you can insert into your starting lineup. He was another 3rd round draft pick that the Lions wasted when they're defense is so horrid.Sometimes I think the Lions choose not to draft defense because they don't know where to start fixing the problem.

Calhoun's been a disappointment - I really had high hopes for him.

From all reports, he looked bad last year prior to the injury...blowing out an ACL for a shifty-type RB doesn't help his cause...

I have always liked Calhoun, ever since I watched him go toe to toe with my Minnesota Gophers in college. Back then, he at times looked every bit as solid as our beloved Maroney. I drafted him in one of my leagues because I think that a fully healed Calhoun is a perfect fit in a Martz offense, but I'm frustrated by his lack of progress. Yet you have to keep in mind that he will look like a player who is coming off an ACL tear for a while.
