Detroit has tried a few stop gap safeties this off season to no avail. Phillips has been the starter this entire pre-season, so I see no reason why they should change now. C.C Brown couldn't cover Ronald McDonald at a children's birthday party. Clown feet and all. If you want to grab one, I'd grab Phillips.
C.C. Brown is the starter, so I would grab him for now. As the season progresses, this situation could change, but it is very difficult to predict. Whoever the starter is could have top 10-15 value because there is little competition in the back 7 for tackles on a team that figures to have trouble stopping anyone.
I'm not sure CC Brown is going to last. I think Phillips will take over that spot sooner rather than later. I was actually hoping he'd get the start in wk1.
The only reason C.C. Brown didn't start the last 2 preseason games is because he was injured. Randy Phillips started all 4 preseason games, but only because Brown missed 2 games and Delmas missed 2 games.
It's hard to say what the Lions will do as the season progresses, but Brown is the starter at SS right now.
I think that is accurate. The first two games of the preseason he looked real solid. Game 3 was his poorest game of the exhibition and Game 4 he played okay. But, I think it was Game 3 when he played poorly that he still forced a fumble that was returned for a score. I think as long as Delmas is back there though, the Lions will be looking for more consistent play and maybe that's why CC Brown will be starting. I think he's terrible, but who knows. I think Phillips is the backup for both S positions though.
