Dez Bryant (1 Viewer)

Apologies if there is a Dez thread already out there but I can't seem to find it.

I drafted him in the 5th as my WR2 in a 14 teamer and am cautiously optimistic that he is gonna break out this year. As in 70-80 receptions, well over 1,000 yards and 8+ TDs. With all the talk of the 3rd year WR theory I know I've seen an analysis somewhere showing that elite WRs actually make their biggest statistical improvement from year 1 to year 2. A quick look at guys like Andre, Fitz, Calvin, and Brandon Marshall bears that out.

I think Dez's talent is arguably comparable to those 4 even if his maturity level is clearly not. IMO, he's in a very good situation. Above average QB play. Other weapons in Austin and Witten to draw coverage (I realize some see this as a negative, I don't), and I think Dallas' D is going to be very leaky again this year and the team will be in a lot of high scoring affairs. Of course he has to stay healthy, keep his head on straight, and have some things fall in the right place but I think it could/will happen.

Curious as to what others thoughts are on Bryant and opinions on his upside this year.

That's the 2010 player spotlight (although there is a 2011 one). Got confused by everyone projecting 600 yards. For this year I say 80/1130/10

Yeah I found the 2010 one but can't find one for this season. Your projections are right around what I'm thinking/hoping. Curious to see this year's thread and the range of expectations.

Just listened to Matthew Berry on the radio, and FWIW he listed Bryant as one of the big steals in the draft. He also loves Austin as well, thinks Dallas is going to be a FF paradise this year.

Well I think most people on fbg know more fantasy than Matthew Berry.

Dez oozes talent. He's got everything you want in a receiver, physically. There are 2 questions in my mind about him. First, will he be where Romo expects him? He wasnt last year, thus the two never gelled. In pre-season, they've looked more in sync.

Second, can he stay healthy? Obviously, everyone is some risk. But he plays WR like Marion Barber used to play RB. He tried to break every tackle, fight for every inch. He plays angry. It is fun to watch, but he takes a LOT of shots while fighting. I seriously doubt he makes it 16 games.

He will have some huge games as long as he's healthy. His immense talent will have him with some big multi-TD games, I am certain. He'll break some tackles and take it to the house. But he'll also have some 3-31-0 weeks.

Bottom line. High risk, high reward.
