Dez Bryant (1 Viewer)

He's talented, he's just not showcased in that offense. Romo loves the coverage the third receiver gets. Just a lot of mouths to feed:

Witten

Austin

Bryant

Murray

They can't all score in the same week yet they're all highly rated in Fantasy. Someone has to disappoint on a week to week basis.

After one good game, and one bad game - all of the sudden there is something wrong?

Calm down. He will put up 6/90/1 this weekend and you won't feel so bad about drafting him over Austin.

He's overrated. He's only got 1 game over 100 yards in his career, shoot Amendoula did that this weekend.

He'll be up and down.....wait for a decent game and trade him.

Nothing is wrong with him. The Seahawks CBs...especially Richard Sherman are very good. Jammed him all day and threw him off his game. Its not often he plays CBs as big as him.

Watch this weekend. If he can't thrash Aqib Talib like Nicks did--and Nicks has, in my eyes, a very similar game to Dez's--then you can start to worry. However, right now we have one solid game, and one bad one against a good defense (with exceptionally good DBs) where he nonetheless saw his targets increase. Don't get too gloomy yet.

Other than the giant void between his ears? Or that his coach has to draw out his routes on his palm in crayons so he can visualize where to go? All the physical talents, but lacks any cerebral skills. I knew we were in trouble when he decides to buy $800,000 worth of "bling" before he even gets his first check. Thats a man with priorities.

This is exactly what happened for people who didn't actually watch. They roughed him up and worked him over good. Seahawks D is physical.

He will never get the targets Nicks got
Of course not, but after his first 6 passes it was clear that Nicks was going to be able to manhandle Talib. I don't think Dez is going to put up 170+, but that he should be able to show off the same kinds of skills on what he does get.

Austin has always been the Romo's dude. Dez put up a few numbers when Romo got hurt, the Austin went down few games last couple years. As long as Romo and Austin have been healthy he's always taken the back seat.

Yeah but in that game he also dropped two (or was it one?) perfect passes, one went right through his hands into his facemask. He also muffed a punt and fumbled, though I believe he got both of those back. Even when he's where he's supposed to be and the ball is to him and he's not covered by The Legion of Boom (Seattle DBs) he's still screwing up.

I have owned him in a dynasty league for his career. He is still very young, younger than most rookies last year, but he is very inconsistent. He isn't going to be the focal point of the game plan like elite WR's are so maybe that means he isn't elite. He's a boom guys with several weeks of bust. Not a fan of this type of player since at the end of the year you'll be sitting at 1st in points in your league but wonder why you missed the playoffs.

Apologies for this basic question, but are we sure Talib covers Dez?
you are oversimplifying the use of defensive schemes against certain WR personnel. Don't worry about Talib if you want to start Dez.

You wonder why he was drafted so late in the NFL draft? The guy is a knucklehead and has way to many mental issues stemming from his childhood. What organization, besides the Cowboys, even thought on taking this guy? Its a freaking joke that Jerry Jones has to assign a babysitting crew for a grown man that can't even tie his shoes without getting into trouble. No thx.

These pitchfork threads are funny. In his first season starting, he produced 930/9 in 15 games played and 2(+) in which he was hampered by injury - visibly limping, even.

Did everyone forget the 3 year WR rule? If we dimsissed every player that didn't get 1,000 yards or 10 TDs in his first 2 seasons, we would be dismissing a lot of quality football players. And Dez was right there - just missing those numbers.

Using the CJ Spiller pitchfork thread form last year...we should expect Dez to blow up in about 3 weeks.

This + the knucklehead stuff. He's the #2 receiver on his own team - and has shown he doesn't really care to improve his game. So he'll stay #2...take that how you want.

Everything from camp said his teammates and coaches were very impressed by the work Bryant put in; said he was running much better routes, was in ridiculous shape, and, as you put it, cared to improve his game. Week 1, he caught 5 of his 6 targets, ran a crazy good route, which they replayed many times, and was very productive. We shouldn't let one bad game, in which the entire team was sluggish and playing from behind, close the book on a 23 year old WR. He does have issues and hasn't earned the trust of his QB yet. Red flags, sure. But there is clearly potential.

The fact that you had to single out "A" good route is one of those red flags. I agree, he has talent, but so does Michael Floyd. I am not comparing the two directly, just making the analogy that NFL benches, and eventually "former NFL players" lists are littered with guys who had talent - but couldn't make it translate onto the field in terms of production.

They don't show many routes on TV. It was the one route they showed - that I recall - a good angle and replay on. So, it wasn't that it was the only good route - it's that the one route they showed, was great. 930/9 in 15 games is translating to the field. Especially when you take a look at the number of targets.
