Dez Bryant (1 Viewer)

Ok here we go with the weekly torture of owning Dez Bryant. The big question though is his status this week.

Latest Players in the News:

*** Saturday Update *** WR Dez Bryant (DAL) has been removed as the team's primary punt returner. Bryant has made mistakes during punt returns in consecutive games. Bryant said he is not disappointed over the demotion; however, he plans to speak with the coaching staff. "Nah, I wasn't disappointed at all," Bryant said. "I was very understanding. But like I said, I'm going to get back in coach's ear. I think it will be hard for him to tell me no. I'm going to continue to keep working at it."

In other news, Bryant received approval to be out past midnight Saturday, Nov. 3. Adviser David Wells confirmed he approved for Bryant to hang out at a nightclub to celebrate his birthday, which is Nov. 4. "He had a security person there with him and some of his teammates were there too," Wells said before leaving for Atlanta, where the Cowboys play the Falcons in Week 9.

NOTHING about his playing status. Although we got earlier in the week he is expected to play:

WR Dez Bryant (DAL) suffered a hip issue in the team's Week 8 game, but the Cowboys do not believe it is serious questionable.

to

*** Friday Update *** WR Dez Bryant (DAL) did not practice on Friday and is questionable to play this weekend.

to

Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant (hip) is questionable for Sunday's game after participating in just the walk-through portion of Friday's practice. He hasn't practiced all week, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Fantasy Spin: Bryant is dealing with a hip injury he suffered on his near touchdown at the end of Sunday's game against the Giants. He could be a game-time call for Week 9.

And it is a Sunday night game, so it's tough decision now.

Anybody else have anything??

What can you expect from the guy if his qb doesn't trust him to make the correct reads and run the right routes even when he has a full week of practice. This is a very tough call for me.

At this point I am starting James Jones, Andre Roberts, and Brian Hartline over him. I will probably chicken out and put him in my line-up at the last second but I am secretly hoping that the Internet goes down before I can make the chage.

I love the talent but it seems that Romo is getting tired of dealing with him. (Just an observation, maybe it is my projection on to Romo. I certainly have no inside knowledge.)

He could be a gametime call? What is that. So he could not be gametime call too?

Him or Pierre Thomas at the flex for me....I'm ready in case he is out.

Hartline with a bad groin and a gimpy qb...over dez? And Andre Roberts?? Really? Dez has been muffing routes all year and romo keeps going to him what makes you think tonight will be different barring injury? Talent wise he is the best receiver in the team.

I dunno, maybe 5/110 and the trust to go at him for a TD on one of the last plays of the game, knowing that he was going to sell out completely for it even if it got him hurt? Or maybe 13 receptions for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns?

No kidding. I don't know how some people can just keep regurgitating garbage that is thrown out there carelessly. If the guy that is going with heart line wants to talk about trust then he needs to look at the number of targets Dez is garnering each week. If he wants to talk about "concerns" then maybe he ought to make sure tanned ill is healthy enough to reasonably play the entire game.

I am avoiding Dez this week due to the late start and not having a reasonable replacement should the word come down after 4:00 pm that he is not playing. I also have seen the Cowboy keep Dez active and use him primarily as a decoy in the past when he was not 100%.

I see people say this all the time. I get that he had hype before being drafted and Austin was overlooked, but I'm not sure an objective observer would agree with your statement. While performance is not perfectly correlated to talent, Austin is clearly outperforming Dez this year.Austin 59 targets, 34 rec, 561 yds (16.5 ypr), 4 TDBryant 62 targets, 41 rec, 488 yds (11.9 ypr), 2 TD

SalPal reported Cowboys have "major concerns" about Dez Bryant's injured hip for tonight's game vs Atlanta.

I would be very concerned at this point. Even if he plays, he might be used as a decoy to draw coverage and produce very limited stats.

Well if dez is that questionable than yeah feel free to play hartline over him. I don't want a goose egg in my wr2 spot. The 8 pm game makes this very problematic.

Thought: Ogletree is back on most wires by now. Would he be a decent handcuff for anyone counting on Sunday night Dez? My guess is that he'd see at least 6 or 7 targets if Dez were inactive.

Kevin Ogletree (hamstring) returned to Cowboys practice Friday, getting in a limited session. He's officially questionable for Week 9. We doubt Ogletree suits up for Sunday Night Football against the Falcons, leaving Dwayne Harris for No. 3 receiver duties. Even if Ogletree does play, he'll be well off the fantasy radar.

Atl has a solid Def (#4 toughest for WR pts allowed). I don't see either being a good play this week.

Romo might have another rough outing.... I just don't see Dallas taking it to Atl in Atl this week....

If Dez is not 100%, will he be a decoy? Will it be another Witten day?

I am sitting Austin this week.....

Jene Bramel @JeneBramel

No obvious WW hedge for Bryant. Devery Henderson or Jason Avant may be best bets. Strongly consider using bench player rather than waiting.

Ugh don't know whether to start Josh Gordon or wait it out for Dez. If Dez can't go, I have Ingram on bench for MNF. But then I'm praying for a TD. I need a win this week, so I'm probably going to roll Gordon.

NOT liking this at all! Having Nelson, Dez, Felix and Joique Bell as my flex options, I can believe I'm contemplating Bell! :wall:

I too am undecided whether I should start Josh Gordon over Bryant. Gordon or Kenny Britt. Argh.

I'll be plugging in Stevie Johnson, Broyles, or Shorts. Not thrilled about it, but yeah: with negative news this morning, no real justification for waiting and hoping.

ESPN Dallas' Calvin Watkins reports Dez Bryant's (hip, questionable) status for Sunday Night Football is particularly concerning for the Cowboys because he fell on the hip in Friday's walkthrough practice, aggravating the injury.

I am filling his spot with Torrey Smith (over Hartline). After Matthews laid an egg for me on Thursday night I need Smith's big play potential.

Rolling with Cobb instead of Dez tonight. Everytime I start Dez I get 4pts. When I bench him he puts up 10+. So to all those starting him tonite, you're welcome.

I'm actually keeping Bryant active until we get the news pre-game tonight. It's such a big game for Dallas (SNF and against an undefeated Falcons team) that I think Bryant will play if he can.

However, if he's ruled out, I'm going with Ogletree (if active) and if he's not, I'm picking up Harris.

I'll note that my other options aren't great, but I really believe in Dez.

ummm he was allowed to stay at the nightclub for his bday ... i'm sure dancing was involved ... hip is smokescreen to ATL def staff ... he's playing

I have to start Broyles or Hixon..

Given Broyles success of late, and reports that Calvin may be limited, I gotta go with him.

If he ####s the bed and Bryant starts and plays well, I will be none to pleased.

My only other option is Torrey Smith. Smith's match up with Joe Haden concerns me, not to mention his tendency to disappear from the game plan. I guess I'll wait until this evening and hope for Dez Bryant's availability. With the Cowboys running game a mess, I figure Bryant's got to play if he has the slightest chance of doing so.

I had Dez in my flex but just put in Cecil Shorts instead. I have Felix Jones also, but he's horrible. I can't risk Dez not playing, being severely limited, or leaving the game after 1 quarter. So Shorts it is (instead of deciding between Dez and Felix tonight).

Have no options left on my team and I'm gonna have to drop Amendola to pick up a WR tonight if Bryant can't go. At that point the options are Avant, Ogletree, Devery Henderson, and Joseph Morgan.

I have a feeling that Bryant will play just because the Cowboys are gonna be desperate for the win tonight but I'm not very confident in his ability to make it all the way through the game or even see a decent number of targets. Basically I just hate this situation.
