Digital Camera pic of the day (3 Viewers)

Couldn't decide which one to post so you get two for one :banned:

Snowy Pine

Ice Shelf
You sure pick some hard subjects to shoot. All that glistening white snow on a very bight, sunny day. :2cents: I like the pine cone better, would have liked to see the sun a bit more hidden behind the cone/snow to reduce the contrast a little.

Yea, After getting out and taking these, along with some other pictures I'll upload to flickr another day, I realized just how much better they would have been had I gotten out around Sunrise.. The Beauty I saw was amazing after the 12"+ of snow we had.. unfortunately capturing that beauty near Noon doesn't work out as well as planned. :moneybag:

Still, I was walking around in drifts up to my waist to get these shots and that would have been mighty cold in the dead of the morning. :bag:

Set of 6 images from a photo shoot this last Sunday:

Benini Sculpture Ranch

Found this place about 50 miles west of Austin. Nearly 100 medium to large scale outdoor sculpture pieces. It is really an amazing place and Benini and his wife are very nice folks. Worth a look if you are in the area.

Now for something fun. Lots going on here..

My daughter is burying the Regal Begal under snow, he's looking at me and/or the Springer with a "Ohoh, Look out" look and the Springer is running full speed at me.

Fun in the snow

 Early in the morning and late in the afternoon are pretty darn challenging in those lighting conditions, noon is virtually impossible.

Alright.. Safari :pics: .. Any Kill shots? :goodposting:
Yes. Lots. Do you want the lioness chasing down the warthog, the two male lions killing the hog, or the ones with them both face deep in gore?

Warthog Kill
Thanks for waiting until after lunch.. ;)

Everyone should take a few minutes and scroll through the set of pictures. Some really nice photos there.Fred, is that a rental house? We have been thinking about a trip to Costa Rica and I am looking for info on a rental.
Those were pics taken by a co-worker and friend of mine, so I can't provide details. If you want, I can ask them to see what their response is.

Ooop! This is what happens when you assume, eh? If you don't mind asking about the house I would appreciate it.

I don't usually do favors for FBG's with member numbers significantly larger than mine, but I will make an exception in this case. :scared: I'll PM any info I get to you mid-next week.

More than just 2 people. In the first 10 pics I count 6 different cameras.

 Thanks! I wouldn't normally even have asked what with you being a salty veteran and me being a noobie and all but this could make or break a vacation!

I little Photoshop curve enhancements will really make those pop.
If I only had $619, I'd do it.
Haven't you discovered Bittorrent? I mean...ahem...Photoshop Elements is only $99.99!
What enhancements exactly, I have Paint Shop Pro.
I haven't used PSP, so I can't comment on it. Just to add that many photographers love Photoshop's tools. And from what I hear, Photoshop Elements is a very powerful, easy to use tool for a low price.

I created my first flickr album over the weekend.

Currently using a Canon Powershot A620. I don't know too much about photography besides the very basics, but I enjoy snapping pics. Someday I'll get motivated enough to learn more. In the meantime, I'd love to hear what the FBG photog regulars think.

TIA

I like the Upper Sabbaday Falls shot. I like how the sun through the trees left a shadow on the rocks that looks like it is flowing along with the water. Again, time of day has a huge affect and is washing out the top part of this shot. I like the Ocean View one, but think a slightly cropped down version(Crop out the white part so only framed by the black) would work better as well as a different time of the day(Understand that sometimes you get what you get when you can).

One thing I noticed consistently as I was looking through all of my pics over the last year, was overexposure - particularly outdoors. Usually, I'm just using the pre-sets on the camera, but I think I need to start tinkering around with f-stops & shutter speeds in order to get what I want. Guess it's time to get a good book on the subject. Any suggestions?
