I think your shutter speed is fine. I like a nice crisp sports photo as much as anyone, but a little blur ads the element of motion. I'd say you might slow down the shutter a bit more every once in a while. Do one of those tracking shots where you follow the moving subject with the camera and shoot at the same time. It usually takes a bunch of attempts to get a good one, but your son will love it because it will make him look really fast. Here's a few pics from my sons hockey game this weekend
I think I need a little faster shutter speed on the moving shots, thoughs ?
Looks like a still shot from the movie Identity. Nicely done.I was driving through the middle of Ohio in the farm land early this week and I came up on this abandon Motel. A storm was blowing in and it gave it a dark and scary feel.
Haunted Motel
I had a few of those blurry shots, I'll have to go back and look at them, I thought they were not so good but I will post some and see what you think. Great picture!! I have a "No Camping" sign from La Pointe in my basement. I used to spend about 5 days every summer sailing around up there. Thanks! I assume you've been up to the Apostle Islands before, eh? It was beautiful up there. We're talking about backpacking in the Boundary Waters next year.
Nice..
Love these two.
nice. Addison & Lincoln, right? I used to drive through that intersection on my way to work everyday. I've always wanted to take pictures of the old motels on Lincoln Ave about 5 to 6 miles north of there but never got ambitious enough to do so (and I no longer live near there).
Yup. Addison and Lincoln. I live about a half mile north so I walk around that area a lot.A couple photographer friends of mine have between them a pretty comprehensive collection of Lincoln Ave. motel photos. I'll add a link if I can find em posted somewhere.nice. Addison & Lincoln, right? I used to drive through that intersection on my way to work everyday. hells yeah. Thanks! This is the kind of thing I would have liked to have done.ETA: I used to love how this motel advertised 'Switchboard' AND 'Free Television'Here's some search results on FlickrMacArtist said:I'd love to see those.Yup. very nice picture. I'm assuming you did some post-processing to get the corners of the picture darker. Do you remember what you did? I've been trying to find an easy way to give pictures a grunge? effect in Photoshop and haven't come up with anything good.MacArtist said:One I shot in Colorado: Love the in-room hot tubs. The way I make the corners darker (vignetting) is by first opening the image in PS bridge first. From here click the lens correction tab and use the post crop vignetting. You can also open PS and go to Filter>Distort>Lens Correction. There might be an easier way, but this is the best that I've figured out.very nice picture. Nice pics. Tell him to get a little closer before he shoots when he has a breakaway.Scored on the first one, but the goalie stoned him with the glove on the second breakaway
Question, Is there anything that can be done to make the pictures clearer when shooting through the glass? TIA
Thanks CrossFunny you mention that, because I have been preaching that to him for the last 2 weeks. He has a very hard shot, so he wants to blow it by them all the time, and he did go upstairs over the glove on the first one, but the second one the kid got his glove on it. He's 6 playing with the 7-8 year olds, so he's still learning, but I'm trying to drill it in his head to shoot around the bottom of the hash marks if the goalie is back, make a move there if the goalie is at the top of the crease.Nice pics. You can try a polarizer. One thing it does is help limit the amount of reflection you get off glass surfaces.Scored on the first one, but the goalie stoned him with the glove on the second breakaway

This one is pretty cool
Thanks - I'm a little naive at Photoshop so this would be New Adjustment Layer _ Gradient Map. then choose Radial Gradiant Type and experiment a little?MacArtist said:There are a number of ways to do it. Now that i'm home, i realize that with Photoshop 6 I don't have the quick vignette via Lens Correction. I was able to do your gradient trick - thanks, good tip for me. After a little exploring I came across this site that offered another technique for vignette.MacArtist said:Actually, I just made a new layer, selected the gradient tool and in the gradient editor, I picked the "color/opacity" box and then picked the color I wanted that would fade to opacity when dragged, and dragged the gradient tool in the corners. I didn't use any radial tools or anything. Mine was just a quick and dirty. Thanks - I'm a little naive at Photoshop so this would be New Adjustment Layer _ Gradient Map. then choose Radial Gradiant Type and experiment a little?MacArtist said:There are a number of ways to do it.
