Don't you know? You don't have to own one... Can you say charter?

I think Bevo went to hide... :lmao:
I've been looking into hotel reservations. Should I choose where we are going or should we vote?
:lmao: You choose... You seem to know where all the hot spots are... :lmao:
Wowzers! :lmao:

Well, I am considering a trip to Bryce and Zion in the October - early November time frame.

But I am not going to :) to Wisconsin to pick Snogger up, he is going to have to meet us there.
 hmmm, October/November..

Just getting chilly here, not much going on, camping is done for the year... hmmmmm
Where is that? I am geographically challenged.... :lmao: Snogger
Bryce and Zion are in southern Utah. Bryce Canyon

Not quite the same. Southern Utah is absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite playgrounds.

I happened to marry my favorite playground!
Can we vacation at your place for a week and take pictures?
 I guess I can ask. :lmao:
:lmao: Wait a second, the BSRs are the warlike airsoft tribe, right? I think I may look for something else.
:excited:  What the heck is that supposed to mean????
Maybe I have you mixed up with someone else. Isn't Mr. BSR the expert in air soft guns and other assorted weaponry? If not I need to go back and get some other info on my request for an airsoft rifle to repel the horde of homeless cats that have invaded our neighborhood.

Yeah, that's him but you made it sound like we're some ugly redneck hillbillys. BTW, we played this Saturday. Someone was taking pics but BSR said there were none of our family.

My apologies, no such intent was meant.I am not a very good comedian. :tfp:

No apology necessary. I was teasing you.

Many more to come from Zacatecas. These are the only two I have uploaded. It may be a few weeks before I'm done with all of them.
Very nice. I especially like "disparity", nice B&W conversion and the "attitude" on the young boy is great.Did you get a chance to take any pics specifically fir High Dynamic Range?

Two more landscapes to finish out the week:

Toned Infrared B&W

Spring 2005, I had just started playing with digital infrared. This shows how far behind I am in my processing of the pictures I have taken. :loco:

Below Delicate Arch

Arches National Park. This was taken from below (and about 1/4 mile from) Delicate Arch. The LaSal mountains are in the background.

Thank you! No, I didn't get a chance to shoot for HDR. I was constantly on the move. I may to fake some HDR by saving the same pic at different exposures in Photoshop CS2. What type of picture would be best to try this one? Maybe the cactus landscape?
The cactus landscape might work well or "pointing up" to try to recover detail in the lighter portions of the wall.Don't get your hopes to high, this trick works sometimes but more often than not it doesn't help a lot. Did you shoot all JPG or did you shoot RAW? RAW gives you a much better chance to recover highlight detail and to get exposure differences that increase the chances of getting good results.

Nothing unique for me today, but here are a couple:

Flower

Rust
Hmmmm.... I missed this one somehow.I really like the flower. Great depth of field and sharpness. If it was mine I might boost the saturation a bit but that is purely a matter of personal taste.

You probably would not like what I would do with rust  but it is a very nice texture image.

I shot in RAW and actually used up 6 GB of memory. Had to burn 4 GB to a CD to free up more memory. I love RAW but it sure does take up a lot of memory. Worth it, though.
 For those images I would make 3 output files at -1,0,+1 exposure values. Don't change anything except exposure and ensure that the color temperature is the same for all 3 images. After they are converted and show up in PS CS2 save them as TIF (I think, it has been a while since of have used this method). After saving as TIF look at File->File Info and see if the EXIF data has been stripped. If it has you should be ready to use Merge to HDR, if not let me know and I will look thru my notes and see what I am forgetting. If the EXIF data is still in the images you are trying to merge PS CS2 will reject the images when you try to merge them.

:lmao: I dig. The rust pic is nothing more than a bored dad who doesn't travel enough to get more interesting photos

Well, I need to find some time and get out.. Until then a Pic from March 1st...:

What you should NOT be doing while driving during a snow storm
 Taking pictures of the car in front of you instead of keeping yours hands on the steering wheel?
:lmao: I was driving home in that mess and stupid me thought "Hey, why not take a :lmao: " And :fishing: my knee didn't seem to have as much control over the wheel as my hands do. :lmao:

Luckly it was only momentarily loss of traction and there were no other cars next to me.

Bevo - I notice on your HDR shots that you're listing your adjustments as changes to EV. Are you shooting in A or S priority (or a preset) when you take those shots and using the EV adjust or are shooting in manual and changing your aperture or shutter stops?

I almost always use Aperture Priority. I generally use Auto Exposure Bracketing set to 1 (-1,0,+1) or 2 stops (-2,0,+2). In reality I would really tend to use 2 stops most often and do the series as -3,-1,+1 since, in general, there is more recoverable data and higher saturation in the shadows than in the highlights. If using the 2 stop method I may take the first 3 shots, change exposure compensation by 1 stop to get a range like -4,-3,-2,-1,0,+1. I try to touch the camera a minimal number of times in the series as every time that I touch the camera potentially is another time for the camera to move (even on a stable tripod) and then not being able to use some of the shots due to camera "shake". This leaves shooting in manual mode (and no autobracketing) out as I would have to touch the camera too many times. Also, shooting in Shutter Priority or manually changing the aperture is not usually a good idea as depth of field changes as the camera changes the aperture for each exposure and this becomes a real problem if you aperture changes from say f4 to f8 to f16. The merges of those 3 images would probably look really bad.

ROSE

I feel bad that my pics have been so boring lately. I promise to post some more interesting stuff if possible.
I think that one has some potential with a composition change and shallower depth of field (if you can accomplish that with your equipment). Just keep firing away and trying different things, the more you shoot the better your chances of getting good pictures.
