Digital Camera pic of the day (2 Viewers)

Hey Guys,

I am heading to Vegas in a month, and will be going to Red Rock Canyon for a tour.

I am renting a Canon 10-22 and a 28-105 IS for the trip...

I am stoked about it!!!!

Hope to have some quality stuff upon return.

Just wanted to gloat a bit, since I have not shot in over a week

:FINGER: :pickle:

I was out driving around late yesterday afternoon looking around for some wildflowers to shoot when I noticed a big bank of clouds threatening to unleash a thunderstorm. Ended up blowing away without so much as a raindrop. Quick and dirty High Dynamic Range processing. Trying to decide if it is worth spending 2+ hours work on it to make it printable.

Inks Lake State Park
Wow. Nice color!
Thanks. One of the nice things about High Dynamic Range is that it makes it considerably easier to get nice saturated colors.
That is awesome! Any way to get a High Dynamic Range processing 101?
This FAQ is a good starting point. Skim through it and then let me know if you have any questions. It is not as daunting as it may seem at first, once you have shot a few and processed them it will seem a lot easier.
I only have Photoshop Elements. No HDR for me. :pickle:

The company that hosts that FAQ (hdrsoft.com) sells an excellent standalone HDR software package named PhotoMatix.

A few more from Inks Lake State Park last weekend:

Nice.. I like the peacefulness of C.. BTW.. was "A" to racy to be shared so you only shared B,C & D :goodposting:
Yeah, I didn't want to let my X rated pics slip thru! :violin: "A" was already posted above. I am rebuilding my PC and having to work on my older, slower, non-color managed laptap for a few days and I am using a slightly different file naming convention so that when I am looking at the crappy results I will remember why they came out that way.

I'm VERY amateur, with only a P&S camera, but I like this action shot I took of my son jumping into a ball pit.

Pure joy

You may have to actually click on the image to see it's original size to get a better resolution.

Hey Guys

Some of you might be interested in this very cool website: Picnik which allows you to do online photo editing and effects without downloading anything - it's all flash-based. Pretty nice for quick and dirty work or if you're on a system without editing software.

I also used it to make a quick little slideshow: Zion and Angel's Landing

Went Hiking with my daughter Sunday..

I think I like the 2nd one best but wondering what others think?

Bear Hiking #1

Bear Hiking #2

Larger view of #2

Of course there is always the mandatory pose:

Posing
I can't articulate why, but I like #1 better.
1 is better than 2.
Thanks you two.. Difference was vertical compared to horizontal(#1 being horizontal)... BTW, got home and lifted that Bear Pack out of the car and thought What in the heck :lmao: ...

So I Opened it up and found she had a 1 Pound bag of licorce, some other candy, 5 or 6 large super balls and two or three rocks she had picked up. Thing must have weighed close to 10#'s by the time we hiked back to the car. :bye:

I like the first one better also.

Thanks. Those little suckers are hard to shoot, it is as if they are on speedddd, they virtually never stop moving (at least if you are trying to photograph them). I really wanted to get one where the plane of focus ran thru the birds eyes, back and tail but this is the best I did out of 400+ shots.
Sounds like me..Take hundreds of photo's, save 10.

Thank god for Digital. :wall:

:wall:

I was standing on top of a parking garage with no lights on the top level. I had to guess whether the tripod was level or not since I couldn't see the one's that were built in. I can crop and rotate a little...but I didn't care....just wanted to capture the lights  .

A couple from the weekend

Waiting

Working
Dude - I have seen your work steadily improve over the past year and it's really cool to see someone really getting into it. Many of your shots have the classic "americana feel" to them. The one thing I see is the majority of shots seem to be taken from eye level. Consider trying some high angles, canted angles, and some low angle stuff.

 thanks. As for the angle stuff.. I do sometimes As in this one from my knees

but in these cases I wanted a heads on view of the horses waiting along with the kids waiting..

As for the 2nd one.. That would have been kind of tough as we were on a moving wagon. :lmao:
