Spent Saturday afternoon hiking at McConnells Mill and Moraine State Parks. The color was a little disappointing. The shark move would probably have been to head south instead of north. But I did get a few decent shots.

At Moraine

Smooth Sailing

Reflections of a Fall Sky

North Country Trail Bridge

Blazing Fall Color

Fall on Lake Arthur

At McConnells Mill

My favorite is the sailboat. I got lazy and decided to stay local. Here's one from Allegheny Cemetary in Lawrenceville.

Autumn Graveyard

And 2 from a local skate park where they were having a competition.

Nice shots there. A few would have been WOW'S had Mother Nature been kind and given you Blue Skies. :goodposting:

Just found this thread.... some gorgeous shots in here.

Here's a couple (compressed) images I have from a cross country Jeep trip to Moab, UT this past June...shot with a Canon 20D with the OEM lens and a Polarized filter (primarily to limit lens scratching from desert dust)

On the Edge of a Rim at Lockhart Basin

Gotta look closely but you can see my jeep on the ledge to the right.

Another shot on the rim at Lockhart Basin

Looking up the rock walls from one of the ledges

For laughs: The Monument to my snapped rear shocks on Lockhart Basin

On a fin on Hells Revenge Trail in the Sand Flats Recreation Area

Fun action shot on Poison Spider Mesa Trail

Eventually will prob play with the uncompressed images in Photoshop a bit

Went to a Pirates game last night (hey, the ticket was free). Sat pretty close, so I was able to get a few pics. Too bad some of them were through the screen.

Ryan Doumit

Doug Mientkiewicz

Skyline from PNC Park

RBI Single
The ones of Doumit and Mientkiewicz came out great. Here's one I shot at Fenway last week..considering I was on the other side of the field, I was pretty happy with the result..

First Basemen
Did Giambi piss himself?

I just bought a Canon EOS Rebel XSi, so I'll hopefully be joining in the fun here soon. I didn't read the whole thread so forgive if this has been discussed, but is anyone else using an XSi? I'd love to hear some thoughts, opinions and tips on the camera. Thanks!

Xsi has basiclly two things different from my Xti.. Live view and more MP. Other than that, everything I've read on it seems the same as the xti.. Best way to learn, for me, was to check out others photos with my camera and look at the properties to see what shutter,Aperture,ISO etc.. was used and than try to duplicate it or improve upon it.

Thanks to being digital you can take 20 :pics: of the exact same thing at different settings. Than when you get home check out each photo to see what worked best for you and take notes.

Than there are the books.. Start here Understanding Exposure and also check out your local library to see what they carry..

I'm using the XTi and really enjoying it. There's tons of info in other threads about camera accessories etc. For me, the jump from P&S to SLR made such an improvement in pictures, I initially didn't see the need to consider any other lenses. At the suggestion somewhere in here, I got a low F-stop lens to help with indoor pictures. This made another really big leap forward in picture quality and I'd recommend if you're photo'ng children indoors. Probably not want you want to hear after shelling out $ for a new camera, but I was in your boat and in hindsight it's well worth the $80.

Still trying to get through last weekends :) ..

Very cool picture. Why can't I see it in larger sizes?
I have to add you as a friend.. Go to my flickr site and click the arrow next to my mug shot and select "add as contact.
You already are one of my contacts. And I don't think that has anything to do with it. I can look at other people's pics in larger sizes. Must be a setting in your profile. Some people's pics have a button above them that says "All Sizes" and some people's don't.ETA: If you see any of your pics on a calendar somewhere, I had nothing to do with it. :hey:

Ok, I need to ask a dumb question. Why is it that those little cameras you buy with the big screen on the back (you know the small, flat pocket sized cameras) have better zoom then my Rebel? I can't get real close up pics from something kinda far away. Is there a different zoom on my camera that I don't even know about?

You need to buy a longer zoom lens.
