Direct/Verizon Bundle (1 Viewer)

We are moving in 2 months are I just called to cancel my Directv account and the agent kept me on the phone trying to sell me on a TV, internet, phone bundle. Of course I didnt commit to anything yet.

I like Directv and my only other option is Time Warner Cable and Fios.

I have no background with Time Warner and Fios services.

FYI I am located in Amherst, NY

Our account now is in my wifes names so when we move I can sign up as a new customer and get new customer discount.

Any opinions on DTV bundles or my other options

I've had FiOS for a long time. Been very happy with the internet, I think I'm on at 50/35. The TV is good too, the only thing I am missing is the DTV's NFL Sunday Ticket. On FiOS, you can get RedZone, which covers that some. One nice thing is you never have to worry about losing signal because of weather with a satellite.

I pay way too much because I have all of the movie channels, and am looking to reduce that some. I have a bundle with TV/Phone/Internet. I used to have Wireless on that too, but recently dropped Verizon. I am one of the last people on earth with regular telephone, but I need it for my alarm system. PITA.

Verizon's Customer Service is good, once you get to a person. Their automatic answering system is annoying, but once you can maneuver past that and get to a human, they are very helpful.

Post any question's and I will try to help. I am in NoVA, outside of DC, but it should be similar.

I had FIOS for the last few years. Good service overall, but it gets pricey once your original discount period is done. We are switching back to Comcast as we will get more stations, faster internet and more boxes for about $30 less per month. Then in 2 years, we will switch back to Verizon. You just have to play the game.

I was going to say "didn't Verizon get rid of contracts?" So I quickly looked online, and they don't have contracts, but have "2 year price guarantees" kinda sorta a contract, but no ETF.

Comcast does the same thing. No "contract", but they can raise your fees no more than $25 after the first year and then all bets are off. Essentially, you have to be ready, willing and able to move to the competition at the drop of a hat. One good way to do that is to NEVER use their email address; use a gmail.com address instead.

I bundled dtv with Verizon dsl, no fios available in my area. dtv offers a monthly discount for bundling with them. im about to call up dtv today and try to get some more discounts

Bought a domain with my last name a dozen years ago when my internet company changed my address with short notice; (Great having an oddly spelled last name!!) I have kept it and have only had one public domain address since (an Apple address that I had to sign up for with iCloud for an iPhone). Easy to give to people to!

Does anyone have the directv genie? I like the idea of less receivers but read early on they were complaints
I have the DTV genie, the main unit is fine, the genie mini is kind of a pain in the ###. disconnects from the network all the time. The main genie is on and working fine but i have to reset it to get the mini genie working. Maybe i got a bad unit but it's annoying as hell.

if you don't need sunday ticket i'd get a fios package in a second and leave directv out of it.

Why are you so high on Fios? Is it the price compared to dtv, service, internet speed etc?

I think we will need 3 receivers and dvr is important for us
