Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will begin “transporting” guests to a galaxy far, far away in 2021!  In this new type of immersive vacation, you’ll become the hero of your own adventure in an experience that surrounds you 24/7 in Star Wars storytelling.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will open summer 2020 in the France pavilion at Epcot and today we shared a new image showing Disney Imagineers at work creating the immersive attraction.

Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is coming to Epcot!  You’re invited to join Scrooge McDuck, Donald, Launchpad, Webby and the nephews in search of priceless treasure. Using the Play Disney Parks mobile app, guests take a trip around World Showcase discovering exotic destinations, exciting mysteries, and maybe even a few thieves, villains and supernatural guardians of ancient artifacts. 

Also, three new films will debut Jan. 17, 2020, at Epcot:

“Awesome Planet” in The Land pavilion showcases the Earth’s beauty and diversity

“Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” in the France pavilion invites guests to participate in a twist on a tale as old as time. It also features narration from Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in the original film. The new sing-along will run in rotation with “Impressions de France,” which will receive an upgrade to 4K projection.

“Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360” in the Canada pavilion is an update to the previous “O Canada!” film with new scenes, a new musical score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington and new narration by award-winning actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.

Space 220 Restaurant debuts this winter!  Space 220 is a new table-service restaurant at Epcot next to Mission: SPACE. When you enter the restaurant, you’ll step into a special space elevator that will take you 220 miles above the earth’s surface and offer incredible celestial views.

Ride looks pretty good and seems long given two parts to it.  Though I doubt it will be better than the Pandora ride.

I don't really know about the Star Wars area but we got some decent food at a place in Toy Story Land - it was like Andy's Lunchbox or something like that.  HS food has been subpar for a while IMO.  There's also a place not too far from ToT and RnR that was ok - had like burgers and chicken tenders I think.

My opinion - just snack around and don't eat an actual meal unless you find a place that sounds good to your group.

My wife was interested in the ribs at the commissary but I read the ribs at Tusker House are much better so will wait for those Saturday.

It was calculated.  Crowd expectations are my biggest factor in planning where to go each day.  I just felt like today is going to be crazy there and I wanted to get there before that happened.  We have 7 days total and only one at EPCOT (today) and one at HWS.  We are doing 3 days at MK because of the twins, but there is also enough there for the 17 and 11 year old to go off and do their thing a little bit.  2 days at AK was probably a mistake, but since we missed Avatar the first day, we are going to get there at park open Saturday and if that is the only thing we do Saturday, it will be ok (although we do have Expedition Everest fast passes for the evening).  

One thing I did not count on was them closing Star Wars area at 4PM yesterday so they could do a press conference on the new ride opening.  Luckily, the older kids had done the smugglers run earlier, and I decided about 3:40 that I wanted to do it.  My wife decided to go and the 11 year old did it again.  17 year old was happy to watch the twins take their nap and play on facebook for an hour.    

Its been a good few days so far.  I am just happy to be mobile after I threw my back out Saturday on the first hole golfing with my dad.  Been wearing a back brace, but I'm still amazed I can walk as well as I can.  Sunday I couldn't even stand up straight, and steps were tiny with the chance of my legs giving out.  Truth is, they've been trying to keep up with ME.  Maybe its the magic, or maybe I will pay for this when the trip is over, but it will be worth it.  I actually broke down a little bit with my wife thinking I had ruined the whole vacation.  

Anyway, off the tangent.  Its almost 6AM and EMH start at 7.  I don't think I could convince my family to get out that early, but I am ready to go.

There really isn't much to HWS in my opinion.  I know when we went in 2105, before Star Wars, it was pretty boring as a whole.  We ended up riding the Alien Saucers 3 times because it was about all the 3 year olds could really do.  One didn't like Toy Story Mania and didn't score a single point, and the other got almost 20K by herself.  They are so different.  

Yesterday leaving HWS from Star Wars area, going through Toy Story Land was insane.  With Star Wars being closed, that was where everyone was at.  I think with expected higher people count today, its going to be crazy.  I planned my trip away from it, but that's just me.

Went to Epcot and don't regret it a bit. Reasonable crowd , my daughter,  son and I hit test track twice and Soarin once and stood in line for a total of 45 minutes (most of that was Soarin). World Showcase was great. No wait for anything. Topped it off with Ohana and it was a day worthy of song and dance. 

Back at Coronado I talked with my neighbor and he told me HS was a #### show. Everyone was shoulder to shoulder and really testy. Said he saw one scuffle,  but the wives of the guys ended it quickly. His kid got one of the $200 lightsabers and, while it looked awesome,  no way would I have paid that much for it.

So it seems the opening to the new SW ride didn't go so well.  Thought I heard on the news multiple closures on opening day?  This seems to be the beginning of a trend.  Wonder what's going on.

While I'm not driving,  I'll do a quick and dirty Disney report on the trip.

Saturday: we got in Coronado later than expected. No park tickets for than, so we hit Disney Springs. Absolutely miserable. You couldn't move and people were all pissy. I really wanted to check out the Christmas tree trail and we did, but you couldn't enjoy it. Just tons of douches taking selfies and stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to do something. Good dinner at T-Rex though. 

Sunday: Magic kingdom. Really crowded,  but manageable. I set the fast passes pretty well, so we rarely had to wait. As an added bonus,  we had reservations at Liberty Tree at 6:50 so,  when we got out, we saw most of the Christmas party parade for free. 

As an aside,  I think Liberty Tree is soooooo underrated. Never had a bad meal there and the service is always top notch. 

Monday: Epcot.  Pretty busy but,  again,  fast passes saved us. The first part of Epcot was not terrible,  but the world Showcase was bananas.  The lines for the Candlelight Procession was mind boggling. Dinner at France was absolutely amazing.  I haven't been there in 8 years, but I'll be back next time. Also started to have problems with our magic bands.  This will come into play more tomorrow. 

When we get back to Coronado,  I went to the desk to ask about some charges to my debit card I wasn't sure about. Wasn't necessarily disputing them, just wasn't sure. After 45 minutes of waiting,  I couldn't do it anymore and had to go to sleep, telling them I'll stop back tomorrow. 

Tuesday: Animal Kingdom. I went back to the desk before breakfast. Did the same #### all over again despite me telling them what was already looked at the night before. After a half hour we figured out it was a no show charge for Liberty Tree.  Ok, they credited it to the room, no problem. Get back to the cafeteria and my daughter was visibly upset. I asked what was wrong and she was upset that her magic band didn't work and it sounds like the cast member didn't handle it very well (my daughter has SEVERE anxiety) . So, back again to the desk to get the band straightened out. Spent another 30 minutes there for something that should have taken 2 minutes. To the park. 

AK was not too bad. Pretty crowded,  but manageable. Hit up Pandora first and did the River journey followed by FoP. That was when I discovered another problem: when paying for lunch we found out that, at some point, our bands were turned off for charges. Fortunately my wife and I had enough cash between us,  but this was a huge deal since I purposely leave my cards behind when I don't need them after being pick pocketed a few years ago. So we quickly hit the Safari and Lion King and cut our day short at AK.

We get back to Coronado and I'm fuming. Spent another 45 minutes at the desk  and I'm struggling to not unload on the cast member because this was my 4th or 5th trip to the desk at this point and because we cut our day short specifically to take care of this.

Had dinner at Chef Micky and was pleasantly surprised how good it was.

Wednesday: Magic Kingdom.  Much more tolerable than Sunday. The hotel gave us some extra fast passes so we walked on everything we wanted to go on. Went to dinner at the Diamond Horseshoe and it was mediocre at best. Probably won't be back.

Thursday: Epcot. Nice easy day. Crowds were great and we had a fun time. Our dinner at Ohana was pretty great too.

How'd you like Coronado?  We've been looking at that one for our last couple trips but it's been under serious construction so we shied away....

We were there 3 years ago and it looks completely different than it does now. Big fan, I will go again.

*edit* I do want to bring up that we were fortunate to be in the building right next to the cafeteria. If you go, I'd reccomend you requesting a room in the Casitas section. I could see it being a pain if you are on the far side of the resort.

Since my driving shift is up again,  I wanted to share a funny story from Epcot yesterday.  We're at the bakery in France and waiting to pay. The kids are holding a table and my wife is texting and the French girl behind the counter says to me 'Oh, I love your Winnie the Pooh shirt, where did you get it'?

Now I've been asked that question a million times,  but I have no idea. It's a shirt with Pooh on it that says 'no bothers given'. Its probably 5 years old. I told her that and jokingly said 'if it came close to fitting you, I'd give it to you'. 

She said something like 'oh,  I could use that as a nightshirt'. Now, I know now that she didn't mean it in the way I took it at the time. In the moment though,  with that flirty French accent, my mind went to a completely different place and, well, my brain shut down. My wife plunks down a twenty and drags me out laughing at my dumb ### the whole time.

Since my driving shift is up again,  I wanted to share a funny story from Epcot yesterday.  We're at the bakery in France and waiting to pay. The kids are holding a table and my wife is texting and the French girl behind the counter says to me 'Oh, I love your Winnie the Pooh shirt, where did you get it'?

Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club will reopen on Dec 26th. The tiny but wildly popular classic soda shop location closed this summer to renovate and expand into the adjacent game room.

I thought someone else here was going to be at Christmas Party this last Thursday...if so, call guest services.  They'll get you another day.  Wife called to ask about something else and they inquired about how we liked the Christmas party.  She told them it poured most of the night, there was no parade, we couldn't find hot chocolate and that me and the kids got stuck on people mover where they had to come let us out of the cars and walk off the ride.  They gave us free tickets for the 19th   And a discount on our annual passes for next year  x 2

I’m in DW now at AK.  We escaped here after going to HS at 6AM to try and get tickets to the new SW Ride.  It took nearly 40 mIn to get through the turnstiles - it was a sea of humanity.  People at the front got there at 3AM supposedly.  Of course when I got to the front there was a problem with my resident pass that needed to be checked AGAIN even though the cast members at guest services the prior day and the people at the hotel said we were good to go.  The ticketing is done through your App and you get assigned in buckets but you can’t get checked in until you beep into the park.  People were in bucket 60 when I got there.  By the time we were done at guest services we got out in bucket 119 which we are guessing will be around 7PM.  Literally got in a yelling match with the manager at the HS ticket turnstyle whonwanted me to get back in line after dealing with guest services (after Steve from Long Island insisted we would not have too).  I wanted to punch her in the face - she was a condicending C.

ill report back on how the ride is.  I said this after last year but this time i really do mean it.  This is my last time at Disney for a bunch of different reasons.  This place Sucks.

Has anyone done the droid depot at Galaxy's Edge?  Making reservations now with my 5 year old and trying to figure out if it's worth doing earlier in the day since they say it will "interact" with the world, or if it's too much of a PITA to carry around all day.

I know my son will want to make a bee line for Galaxy's Edge as soon as we get there so if we did the droid later in the day we'd have to double back to that area to do it.

Ok - still not ever coming back.  I’m done....... but..... (small spoilers ahead)

ill give credit where credit is due.  The rise of the resistance ride is the Star Wars Ride/Experiance you have been waiting for as a Star Wars fan your entire life.   Literally the best “experiance” I’ve ever been on and by a wide margin....... but...

id give it a 10/10.  My wife probably a 2/10 because the “experiance” is actualy 3 rides/sections in one.   Between 1/2 you wait in another line and section 2 broke down causing a 30 mIn delay while waiting in an un air conditioned hallway..... people were excited but the non fans were pissed because it was 90 degrees in the hallway.  The hard part was/is during this part of the ride you are being held by the first order and the cast members must be under orders to not break character.  So many people are complaing wanting answers and the cast members are like “rebel scum shut up and get in line”.  That was awesome to me, but my wife and many others weren’t happy.

unless you want more spoilers I’ll add this and be done with it.... they picked the best cast members in the joint to run this ride... they are very very much part of the entire act.

We got group number 119 and we were finally beeped in Between 7-7:15.  There are supposedly 125 groups admitted in a day if the ride doesn’t break down.

if it’s a must I’d suggest getting your party there before 7 and get checked in and plan to come back later in the day.  Place was a mob scene at 6AM.  I wouldn’t say it was a ghost town at 6PM, but in Disney terms it thinned way out.

I’m sure they got a kick out of it, but there is some really great improv going on too.  As I said the cast was excellent, both rebel and resistance.

On a Disney cruise right now. It’s amazing but it’s a little too much. Haven’t really relaxed yet. Doesn’t help the 2 year old is non-stop but I shouldn’t have planned all this stuff.

By the way.... my uber driver who dropped us off at HS said he had been going nonstop from the hotels to HS since 3:30 AM and it was more or less the same for the dozen or so guys who work the uber overnight that he knows since the ride opened.

Early planning stages but couple quick questions

1. How crazy is it during 4th of July timeframe?

2.  Looking to split time between Universal and Disney, and probably a day trip to the beach one day, so planning on renting a car for the week.  How much of a pain is it to park at either place, or am I better off just parking at the hotels and taking a shuttle?

will probably stay at a Disney property, not sure for universal yet, might try to capitalize on some hotel points I have built up
