Lion's beat writer Tom Kowalski believes that Jordon Dizon will not start, Paris Lenon will start, and that if the Lions are going to make a move, it will occur during the Lions bye (week 4). There has not been anything official from the Lions and this is just Kowalski's opinion, but he is usually spot on regarding the Lions, so it's probably an accurate assessment.
It's obvious that Dizon simply is not ready to start, mainly because of not yet knowing the responsibilities of the Tampa-2 defense. I think it is beneficial to Dizon to not play SLB and to keep working in the middle.
My gut feeling is that it's a 50/50 chance at best that Dizon starts after week 4. That is a bit on the optimistic side. The only reason I think it is possible is because Marinelli wants a more athletic middle LB. He was obviously not satisfied with Lenon last year. If he was, they would not have made a play for Vilma nor would they have drafted Dizon.
This is basically Dizon's job whenever he is ready to handle the responsibilities.

Dizon won't be in starting lineup

All indications at this point are that Detroit Lions linebacker Jordon Dizon, the team's second-round draft choice, will not be in the starting lineup on opening day. Dizon is still not close to unseating veteran Paris Lenon as the middle linebacker and time has apparently run out on moving Dizon to the strong side.
The Lions are expected to go into the season with Dizon as the backup at middle linebacker and then re-assess the situation as the season continues. It would appear that if the Lions are going to make a change -- start Dizon and shift Lenon to the strong side -- it would happen during the bye week (the fourth week of the regular season).
