"Do Not Draft" lists (1 Viewer)

I went into this year's draft with a few guys on my "Do Not Draft" list. It usually contains guys I owned the previous year who were disappointing. So far this year, I was only right about one of them: L.T.

Two of the other guys on my list are performing well though: OchoCinco and Roethlisberger.

There have been plenty of waiver-wire receivers performing well, so passing on OchoCinco doesn't bother me.

But I could have had Roethlisberger really late, as my second QB even, and he's currently #3 in our league.

Are there any guys that you were really down on during the draft, but are putting up FF points now?

Not so many players that I was avoiding are blowing up, its the players I was targeting are doing horrible.

For me the sad thing were the guys I had grouped in Tiers, and I chose the 'wrong' ones. Example, later round WRs, I had liked Cotchery, VJax, LMoore, ABryant. I chose the last two.I did have luck with my 'don't draft from this team' list: avoiding (for the most part) STL, WAS, TB, CAR.

So far, really good, regarding my do not draft (i.e. over valued) list anyway. Picking up Royal, LT, Keller, and Jacobs have been my problems. I think I've recovered now though.

LJ

Roddy (drafted him anyway!)

Addai

Russell

Ray Rice

TO

Lee Evans

Trent Edwards

Cassel

Those are justa few. Glad I didn't draft the ones I passed on. Glad I drafted Roddy anyway.

My spidey senses with RB's were right on. Wouldn't draft LT no matter what, didn't want Westbrook, backed off on DeAngelo (mostly due to brutal schedule compared to soft schedule last year - still like him as a back). Also didn't love TO in his new situation. Stayed away from all of them and am happy I did.

I was wrong on Benson.

I had pick 10 and was looking at Dwill LT and Slaton. I had a feeling these guys would ish the bed so I convinced another owner to trade his 2nd pick to me (he wanted Brady Moss combo). Boy was that ever the right move to make (especially if Turner resumes his current pace)

Here's my DO NOT WANT team from before the season, with my original comments. So far the only ones who have changed my mind are Benson and Harvin.

QB - Romo (many guys this year will have more than his ~22 TDs)

RB1 - Matt Forte (not worth a 1st round pick to me)

RB2 - Pierre Thomas (easy to say now, I guess, but I did avoid him)

RB3 - many I don't like here, but Benson and Larry Johnson have horrible scheds (drafted LJ for one team though)

WR1 - Calvin Johnson (awesome talent, not awesome situation)

WR2 - TO (borderline WR2 now, right? nagging injuries all year, a relatively poor season)

WR3 - Devin Hester (expecting negligible development, I'll take my chances elsewhere)

FLEX - Percy Harvin (DO NOT WANT)

TE - Olsen (startable, but not the insta-stud expected as Clark still gets his)

It's a little early to be grading decisions at this point. Williams has been better over the first 4 weeks of this season than he was the first 4 of last season. Sure, he wasn't a top 10 pick last year, but there is still plenty of time to turn things around.

The worst are the ones you're right about, but still couldn't help drafting.

Drafted DHB, against my better judgment, because I was desperate for WR and the good ones were gone. I chose between him and Robiskie.

Sigh.

Seriously, though, thought he'd have at least 10 catches by now. =p

Two that come to mind so far...

Couldn't have been more right on Owens.

Couldn't have been more wrong on Benson.

I avoided Chris Johnson, SJAX, and DWill at the #5 spot ... took LT

Avoided Westy and took MBIII

Avoided Ocho--could have drafted him in the 8th round (no one else wanted him or TJ Housyah either)... but plenty of WW WR's...

Avoided all STL, CLE, BUF players (especially TO). :thumbs up:

Avoided Big Ben (who went early) but got Schaub and Hassleback very late

Avoided all Lions --should have taken K Smith...

5 weeks into the season?
Hey the OP asked this question as now, so I'll answer as of now. I agree that Forte and Dwill have a good chance of turning it around, but they were two guys in August that I couldn't justify their ADP. Not saying these guys aren't good, just thought they were going too high.

I could jump up and down and talk about how right I was to avoid Sjax, M Turner and Forte.

But the rosters I did draft should also be avoided at all costs....

Peace

Ben Roethlisberger will actually represent very good value considering where he is drafted, and the fact that the pass offense could be as good as it will ever be for him in Pittsburgh. He might turn out to be the steal of the fantasy draft.full disclosure: I drafted him as my backup on my only fantasy team. I couldn't resist. Such nice value.
The only guy I posted as an avoid in 2009 was Eddie Royal:
I drafted Eddie Royal late last year. Loved the value then, but I had absolutely no intention of drafting him this year. I figured with the unstable situation around him and a lot of other owners reaching for him, there was no value to be had. If I owned him, I wouldn't be thrilled with starting him.

Avoided successfully: Forte, MB3, Westbrook, LFitz, T. Edwards, LJ, S. Smith (Car)

Should have avoided: LT, Slaton, DMac, Brady

Shouldn't have avoided: Tony G, Peyton, Vernon Davis

My "do not draft unless falling 2 Rds below ADP:

--Forte (yeah, he I know, he wasn't gonna fall that far)

--LT

--Westbrook

--TO

--Brady (don't like guys 1st season back from major injury)

My "do not draft regardless"

--LJ

--Oak players

--Tampa players

--Clev players (wish I would've taken Braylon since he's been traded)

--Julius Jones (was kinda wrong; he's been somewhat productive)

--Minny WRs (unsure of what Favre had left, plus he's always spread the ball around; wish I had Rice or Harvin now)

Right about: All Bills not named Lynch, FWP, D Ward, R Bush, Brady (for where he'd be drafted)

Wrong about: Eli Manning, Michael Turner, Thomas Jones, & Warner. Though Warner probably still will get injured...
