Depends on how you look at it.

Expanding oil production/exploration is the fastest way to reduce dependence on foreign providers.

OTOH it has environmental risks. Now our good friends to the North and West are more than happy to risk the Gulf shores but when it comes to their own oh no that's something else.

And btw my Northern friends I really hope for your sake that Obama has cleaned up the MMS because last time I checked they weren't doing !@#% to properly regulate off shore drilling to ensure it's done safely. Enjoy the money and the extra supply but... good luck.

If only we had a progressive/liberal president who properly regulated. Oh well.

This is a good start. I think Tesla definitely could be the company that forces others to innovate. Of course, electricity still comes from burning fossil fuels. So. There's that.
