Not sure, but I know there were some upset folks when this forum was created. I think a few of them thought this forum would steal traffic from rotodugout.

Guess what?It did.Joe killed RotoDugout before it even had a chance.

It's not my site, it's Chemical X's. I tried to revive it last year but the traffic was not there and we had discussed a move to make it like the old Baseball Tangent with content. I have three or four guys to provide that content and I was going to front the site but Chem X seems to want to hang onto it and starting all over again is just not something I want to do. The market is saturated and although this forum is not really a baseball forum but a 30 to 40 poster cluster with very little information, it still falls into the category of sites receiving traffic and thus over-saturating the market. There are a ton of decent baseball sites out there and although I don't frequent any of them, they have an advantage due to their getting in earlier.

It's too bad that this forum ever had to be created to be honest because FBG wouldn't lose any traffic to a baseball board anyway and the 100 or so posters connected to this site who actually know and like to talk baseball would have had a decent refuge. I never thought the goal would be to make money off a site because I think that is fairly far-fetched, however you do have to offer games and content which Chemical X failed to do when he had the traffic last year. Another factor was probably the old timers who pined for a Baseball Tangent feel and were frustrated it wasn't the same crew or set-up. Not really sure but there were some good baseball minds at Tangent, most of them never enter this forum because there really isn't a whole lot to see. Actually outside of Knightro posts and the Tigers thread, there is nothing to see unless you are the only person on earth who thinks Wilked is funny.

Once this forum was created rotodugout died and now we have to see the same four posters agreeing with each other on fantasy rankings (except swap the 4th and 6th SS on that list) and team oriented posters most from just a handful of teams. Joe Bryant would have been better off creating a college football sub-forum but he must have thought Chemical X and HARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR posed some sort of threat. :fishing:

Speak for yourself. I have my own "refuge" to talk baseball and its full of very reasonable and intelligent people. I'd never link it here though because this forum is full of tools.

I knew the Tigers should have never acquired those shambling rods last year. That really made them a target for dragon slayers. :lmao:

I miss RD.

The guy who posted Pirates stuff was brilliant.

Personally I think it didn't make it because it allowed porn and swearing.

Joe Bryant would have been better off creating a college football sub-forum but he must have thought Chemical X and HARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR posed some sort of threat. ;)
Let's be honest, Joe just wanted the baseball out of his FFA.
Well, if he let RotoDugout operate unopposed for FBG readers, he would have probably succeeded. He HAD to know about RD.
I'm sorry but you have got to be kidding me. If you want something to be successful - make it so that folks want to go there. Provide great content and don't give them a reason to go elsewhere. If the football guys adding a 'baseball' subform is what made RD fail, than it was destined to fail before it even started.

Once this forum came up, we had no audience whatsoever. There was no more buzz about the place anymore once this came up.It's like trying to start a local produce stand right next door to a Super Walmart, where do you think people are going to go? No site or business is successful without customers.

This is basically the kind of crap I'm not interested in reading, and why I'd never tell people on these forums where to go for good discussion.

Therein lies the problem. It seems like the entire business model for RD (based on your comments) was to pull vistors from a fantasy football site. What was the plan to bring traffic to the site? Were any other vendors contacted to form partnerships with? How long did contributors write articles for? This goes back to what I was saying - if you provided content that was unique and insightful, you would get the vistors. Period. All that exists on the footballguys website was a sub-forum for baseball. No articles. No Rankings. No Daily Injury Reports. No mock drafts. Nothing but a messageboard. I'll be honest. As much as I love fantasy football, I love fantasy baseball even more. If there was a site out there that did for baseball that this site does for football, I'd join in a second. Anyone can set up a messageboard - it's the other content that really makes a site profitable and interesting that folks are looking for. Lastly - I commend you guys for trying to set up a baseball site. I really do. I just think the anger for it not working is misplaced.
