Lilly was solid when he came over at the deadline. He is 35, so I wonder how much the Dodgers had to shell out. And I wonder if they will spend more money this year despite the McCourt divorce. THey have a good nucleus to work with.

Skills would play out well in spacious Comerica. Not an ace, but an above average lefty starter whom gives a team quality innings. Nice trio of Kershaw, Lilly, and Billingsley going into next season for the Dodgers.

About as solid as solid can get.
He's a Southern California native and his wife just had their first child this year. He's also 35 and has moved around a lot. I suspect the Dodgers got a hometown discount.
I am sad he is no longer a Cub. The wrong player was in the last year of his contract and the Cubs wanted to lower pay roll.

Cubs never shoulda signed him to begin with, a fly-ball pitcher like that. :lmao:Perfect for Chavez Ravine, however, love it.

Why not? He pitched pretty well all things considered in Chicago. Yeah, he gave up some HRs, but he pitched a lot of solid games there as well.I'm frustrated, though, because I traded him in my keeper league thinking he wouldn't re-sign in the NL, that he'd be an AL pitcher next year. Oh well.

With the Cubs his ERA was 3.83, 4.09, 3.01, and 3.69 which are lower than all but one season of his career. The winds blows in at Wrigley usually more than it blows out. It was a gamble with Lilly but he was lethal when the wind was blowing in more than he would be in any park in baseball. It more than evened out over a typical season.
