Does anyone here actually win money with Fanduel? (1 Viewer)

The rake is ridiculous. Just skip the middle man and flush 10 percent of your money down the toilet.
Yeah, the rake is ridiculous. The people who run FanDuel should just do it out of the goodness of their hearts. There's no expenses associated with running that kind of website, after all.
There's a difference between charging a rake and a ridiculous rake.

They should make money, no question about it.

But 10% is highway robbery. They need to cut their marketing budget.. i'm sick of all their endless ads and focus on creating a good gambling environment where people could actually make some money.

Casinos make tons of money with a 5-7% model
Casinos have far more revenue streams than FanDuel does. They can afford to keep the rake low. Sites like FanDuel don't have that luxury.

Don't plan on playing any more until the start of the next NFL season.Overall I started the year with about $125 in my account and ended with a little under $900. I wanted to hit $1,000 but December was just too busy to put much effort into it. Plus it does get to be a bit of a grind after a while, and for the stakes I was playing at it wasn't worth getting burnt out on it. I'm happy with my system and plan to reload next year and see if it scales up. Turning $125 into $900 was nice, it paid for Christmas presents and whatnot. Turning that $900 into $9,000 would be nicer, but we'll see.

It's high but it's easy to beat if you're just a little smart and put a little effort into it.

If they're pouring $$$ into marketing and it keeps drawing in new players, then I'm ok with that. When all the fish stop showing up on Sundays, that's when it will stop being worthwhile to play, but until then I'd rather have them spend the rake on marketing than on something else.

Started December '13 with $100. After this weekend's games I'm at $259. Better than a hole in the head.

I think their rake is a bit high as well, but it's comparable with what online poker sites charge for tournaments. I wouldn't say it's ridiculous.

I agree with this. Online poker sites charged significantly less rake than brick-and-mortar poker rooms. The same should be true with legal sports betting. Brick-and-mortar sports books typically charge about a 4.5% vig. I'd think that online sites should be able to get below that, but instead they're all up in the 10% range.

They spend an awful lot on marketing, but I would think that by far the most effective marketing would be a lower vig than your competitors. I could be wrong about that, but in the online era, word should spread very quickly about vig even without advertising.

I'm a big fan of the daily games and I hope that this genre of fantasy really takes off, but I think the vig is going to have to come down in order for it to survive long-term. At ten percent, the losers will outnumber the winners by too much, and a lot of people will get frustrated and stop playing.

CC and Paypal fees are around 3%. So take that off the 10%

I think it's cool that you are speaking so candidly about Fanduel since FBG and Fanduel have had a relationship in the past.

Eventually, one of the big players are going to have a similar game to Fanduel. There was a time when ESPN, CBSports, etc would NEVER have had fantasy football for $ because they carried NFL games and the NFL is against gambling on its product(wink, wink). The big networks have removed those barriers and now shill their fantasy products all the time during live games. It's only a natural progression that they go from Fantasy Football, to 4-week leagues, eventually to daily games that you can play using your phone right before kickoff. I think that will push the vig down on the smaller sites to compete.

Anyone who has won over $600 net should be getting a Form 1099 from FanDuel.

Has anyone received theirs yet?

That's the last thing I need to do my taxes.....
