does anyone here miss the political threads? (1 Viewer)

even though i can go days without even checking TrumpTown, i notice the regular board has been significantly more boring the last coupla wks & wonder if there's a connection

I kind of do. I find myself rarely going into the subforum anymore. I would check them out when they were in the FFA and be able to keep up with them but now they are usually too far ahead to try and read.

Only times I've stepped iFoot in there have been by accident and I feel dirty when it happens.

You mean of the 57 members in this forum?......What the hell happened to this place? Gone are the days of hundreds of members signed in...I'll see you all later...Boring.

I hear you on this but it is also the really deep summer lull right now before everyone comes back for football season, so there will probably be an uptick soon enough.

The political threads are still here as you can click on them as fast as clicking on GMs thread.

The FFA is much more mellow and relaxing to read now.  The sub forum is still a very angry and bitter place if that is what you are looking for.

This makes up for all the stupid board upgrades we've had to deal with. Best thing to happen to the place since I've been here, by far.

At this point there is almost no one left on this board that still has it in them to defend Trump so it's actually a very agreeable circle #### of everyone having fun together ripping on Trump.

As someone who was in those political threads back in the days of GWB, I have to ask. Has any body, on either side, ever been convinced to turn and go to the other side. Soooooooo much wasted time arguing that stuff, no matter who you side for. When I made that realization, I never went back into one of those threads.

It is, yep.

And there is another reason for that which isn't directly related to the political threads being moved, but happened about the same time.

As someone who particpates in both the main forum and (now) the sub-forum, it occurs to me that the apolitical denizens of the board are nowhere near as exciting or clever as they think. But I sort of knew that going in.

Heard great things about the political forum, I don't intend on visiting it, but great things I hear.

Also have hardly seen a post from 95% of the posters I can't stand.

Luckily, as FBG's, we so vastly over-rate everything about ourselves...that we still hit an acceptable baseline...imo.

;)

There's nothing to miss. It's at the top of the page in it's own forum. What I find is it's less stressful seeing them mixed in with everything else. Most of us are not liking the way things are with this administration. Seeing a political thread bumped every second adds to it, and makes it harder not to click on it just to see if perhaps there is a light in this dark tunnel somewhere. Ignorance is bliss in this case. No temptation to click open the thread when it's not under your nose in sight.

And there is always a lull here and on many other ff boards as summer is slowly coming to an end and ff is going to be starting soon. Many are taking a vaca from everything.

My personal sense is that both forums are a little less interesting than before.  The subforum has a slightly elevated level of discussion, but much less volume.  That could be due to the ongoing, inexplicable existence of mega-threads.  Those need to die.  The main forum seems barren.

Kind of agree with this. I only occasionally visit the main FFA, and usually just to read the movie and Netflix threads. Spend most of my time reading in the politics sub forum.

True..but every thread was getting like Groundhog Day.

I don't miss them at all.

The only one I remember liking was when there were 40 threads with the title Sarah Palin, and someone started a thread titled Sarah Plain and Tall.

While I spend way more time in the subforum, sometimes I'm just not in the mood and it's nice to come to the FFA for actual diversion. The separation is a good thing.

My life is richer, the sky is bluer and the length of time in marital relations with Mrs. Servo has gone up.  So, no.
