Thanks! Do you know for sure that the NFC games will be the late games on Wild Card weekend? Just trying to make plans for that Bucs-Giants game, one of the few that is already set in stone

According to the local stations here, it looks like NBC will have the Saturday Wild Card games at 4:30 and 8:00, Fox will have the Sunday NFC Wild Card game at 1:00, and CBS will have the Sunday AFC Wild Card game at 4:30.Here is my best educated guess:Saturday 4:30 - Tennessee at San Diego (1:30 in SD)Saturday 8:00 - Washington at Seattle (5:00 in Seattle)Sunday 1:00 - NY Giants at Tampa Bay (1:00 in TB)Sunday 4:30 - Jacksonville at Pittsburgh (4:30 in Pgh)The only one I feel certain about is NYG/TB, based on the timezones. It wouldn't make sense to have Wash/Sea on Sunday at 1:00 (10:00 a.m. in Seattle). However, I could very easily see the two Saturday games flip-flopped OR the two AFC games flip-flopped. But I just don't think they would make both AFC games the late games on Saturday and Sunday. All I am hoping is that the Steelers do not play on Saturday at 4:30. Any other time is fine.

These things are decided by the television stations that own the rights to broadcast the games, so applying time-zone logic doesn't work. My guess is that NY plays in primetime, meaning Sat at 8pm.

I have heard this as well. Since it's NY, they are going to want the Saturday Night primetime spot for maximum viewership.

The Sunday 1:00 pm game is definitely an NFC wild card game. Do you honestly think they are going to put Seattle (a division winner and #3 seed) in that slot so they have to play at 10:00 a.m.?? I highly doubt it...

This is looking pretty accurate. On the Redskins radio feed, they said that any Redskins-Seattle game would be on SATURDAY. Whether it's the early or late game I don't know. (Early game in Seattle would be 1:30 local time). NYG-TB would be on Sunday.Stillers get very good ratings nationwide so I think that JAX-PIT would either be SAT 8:00 OR Sunday at 4:30.

Thanks! Good point about the Steelers. I just read on the Steelers' message board that the #3 seeds would play on Saturday and the #4 seeds would play on Sunday. I'm not sure that is accurate, and I've never heard that before. We'll see how it shakes out. I could see Seattle playing the early game on Saturday, but I thought maybe they would not want to give the AFC the two "primetime" games (Sat night and Sun late afternoon). We'll see...

As for the networks deciding, I'm not sure that is completely accurate either. The NFL certainly has say in the matter and the seeds and game locations have to play a role.

Mike Francesa on NY radio has been saying for two days that the Giants/Bucs game will be at 8 on Saturday.

TIFWIW

Well, either he or the Skins radio guys are wrong. I don't know which. Both NFC games can't be on Saturday (NBC/ESPN)because that wouldn't leave a Sunday game for Fox.

Yeah, someone is off. I still can't believe they would make Seattle play at 10:00 a.m. on their home turf. That would be asinine and I just can't see it happening.

Wow. CBS just showed that the AFC WC game will be either 1:00 or 4:30 next Sunday. That's a surprise. Two local FOX and two local CBS stations here have the NFC game at 1:00 and AFC game at 4:30 on their programming schedules.

Directv's web guide shows football on the local Fox affiliate at 1:00 (Eastern) Sunday and women's college basketball on CBS at the same time.

The Was/Dal game graphic showed that the Redskins would be at Seattle on Sunday afternoon.

They will not start any West Coast games at 10am if at all possible.

Official, per CBS:

Cleveland/Tennessee at San Diego - Sunday 4:30 P.M.

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh - Saturday 8:00 P.M.

Seattle is going to be pissed...

Giants and Bucks early game Sunday....Redskins and Seattle now on Saturday....they just changed......

Those websites will not be ready for a while, your best bet is www.nfl.com or the newspaper website for the teams city.

Piecing it together...

NBC Sat 4:30 - Washington at Seattle

NBC Sat 8:00 - Jacksonville at Pittsburgh

FOX Sun 1:00 - NY Giants at Tampa Bay

CBS Sun 4:30 - Tennessee/Cleveland at San Diego

Why it's a 1:30 game local time and the short week would work against the visiting team, especially one losing time zones.

Well, the local NBC site here is showing them having both games, but that could be wrong...

No link on NFL.com yet. The OT on Fox is going to talk about the games next...I'll post a confirmation if they give the days and times.

I love Mike and the Mad Dog, but this is typical hubris from Francesa. Just assumes the whole world would demand the New York team play in prime time.
