Does Maroney come back this week? (1 Viewer)

Morris is out, you'd think IF Maroney wasn't still seriously hurt, they would definitely start him this week. For the last few weeks, I think many around here said "They don't NEED him to win now, so rest him" But this weekend is a different story. If he doesn't get activated this weekend, I think we all need to be even MORE concerned about Maroney.

You guys agree? Any homers know if he is practicing today?

Do you think the Patriots NEED Maroney to beat Miami this week?

I'll have more of an answer for you and everyone else after Friday's practice (if not a better sense of what's going on before then).

Per Rotoworld...

According to the Boston Herald, Laurence Maroney's (groin) return is not guaranteed for Week 7.

With Sammy Morris (chest) out for up to a month the Patriots could really use Maroney back against the Dolphins this week, but the newspaper reports that they "will take things slow with Maroney." He's likely to be a game-time decision, but that's been the case for each of the three straight games he's missed. If Maroney doesn't suit up, Kevin Faulk will start and likely get nearly a full workload.

Even missing the past few games, Maroney has been at practice every day. He just hasn't participated very much in practice. For example, there was a story last week that mentioned Maroney looked good in receiving drills. Except how much work does it take to jog out of the backfield to catch a swing pass? IMO, that's not really engaging in practice, and that's what we can monitor throughout the week.

IMO, this is them just making up for the past few weeks when many people thought Maroney would play. So this is their get out of jail free card when people complain that they didn't post anything about him being a GTD decision.

from espn article about Sammy Morris being out probably a month ...

"Maroney ran before the Cowboys game, doing some cuts, but did not play even though Morris left the game. Maroney might return this week."

doing cuts ....thats positive news.

ESPN always on top of things . . .Maroney COULDN'T have played. He was ruled inactive before the game started.

i trust one person on Earth for Maroney news and he's on our board right here.

I cannot stand hearing ESPN and Rotoworld and everybody else waffle back and forth about will he or wont he play. David knows more than John Clayton in this case

The real winners here are Brady owners (and possibly Stallworth owners). The Pats will go more to the air with their two top backs either out of playing just off of injury.

David - assuming Maroney is out this week, is Faulk a good start??? LT off, I need 2 from Faulk, Edge, Portis. The real question is how involved will Faulk be as the starter? Thanks!

I think Faulk will get 10-12 carries, 5 receptions, 75-80 total yards, and a 50/50 shot at scoring a TD this week, even if Maroney plays. IMO, he and Welker will be the ones that benefit from Watson being out.If you think that that stat line is better than your other backs, then play Faulk (although I probably would play Portis and Edge).

I traded for him today. I traded Ahman Green, Jeff Garcia and my 17th round pick next year for Maroney, Mark Clayton and a 14th.

Keeper league - this year my keepers were Reggie Bush and Maurice Jones-Drew. I kinda hope they keep him out another week, just to be sure he is healthy...and then I got a steal....
