Does this sound like collusion to you? (1 Viewer)

This is a contract league, so there are some trades that appear on the surface to be lopsided, but actually make sense for an owner.

This was the trade:

* Pacific Pigskins gave up Redman, Isaac PIT RB;Obomanu, Ben SEA WR; Year 2012 Round 3 Draft Pick from Midwestside Connection

* Vitside Mafia gave up Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR

16 team league

Bowe has a big contract that's expiring... that team is not really in contention at all.

The team receiving Bowe is the commissioner and the guy trading him is his personal friend he just brought into the league this year. He's in contention but is struggling w/ a .500 record tied for the lead in a weak division.

So, not only does this trade involve the commish fleecing one of his friends he just brought into the league... the "independent owner" the trade was supposedly submitted to for reviewal per the constitution, was his OTHER personal friend that just joined the league this year.

Obomanu and Redman both have small contracts with a few years, so they have some value, but a 3rd in this league is basically worthless.

There's no way to prove it... but is there anyway this is NOT collusive?

Best player in the trade can't be kept, owner gets back guys that can be kept. Seems like a perfect "rent-a-player" trade to me...

What if he just made the deal to get well below the cap so he can make a run for anyone including getting Bowe back. Contract leagues are a different species.

I played in a league with Pigskin. Dont think he would collude. I myself, made some uneven deals to get under the cap a few times. Not sure what the problem is here

Yea, this is the same league you were in. One of the big problems I see with the trade (beside the discrepancy in value) is the supposed review of the trade taking place from a first year owner that is his personal friend. Amish said he wouldn't have vetoed it, fine, but the circumstances are fishy to me.

Why does it matter if he's the commissioner? If it's a good trade for anyone else, it's a good trade for him, and vice-versa. Does your league have special rules for how competitive the commissioner is allowed to be?

Because that's the overseer of the league. If the guy I just brought into the league made that trade with me, I think the commish would be asking questions. But I have a childhood friend in that league and I KNOW he'd never make a trade with me that improved my team that much.I'm also worried that league protocol wasn't dutifully followed when the commissioner verbally asks a coworker (who's in his first year in the league) as an independent review of the trade. These aren't valid concerns and signs of collusion?

I honestly don't see an issue here. If you are in a dynasty league and your team stinks, you should be looking to unload anyone who has no value next year and get back whatever you can get for him. I would have said an expiring/free-agent-to-be Bowe for an 8th rounder would have been a fair deal. Is it the best he could have done? Probably not, but if he was more savvy, he'd have shopped the deal around some more before taking what he got.

Not savvy does not equal collusive.

Sorry, no. All I see here is you overreacting. None of these are break the bank players, the best player in the trade is an expiring contract, and the others are small potatoes plus a pick. All I see is you seem to think something's fishy just because A) you don't like the trade, and B) the commissioner is involved in the trade, so you think there's no oversight.Am I to understand the commissioner is not allowed to trade unless he gives away the farm to make it clear he's a swell guy?

This, like 99% of all collusion threads, is just sour grapes. You probably had a trade offer out there that was spurned.

Quit your crying.
