Domain Names (1 Viewer)

It's simply a means of keeping your personal contact info of the inter webs, if you care about such a thing (or if you don't want your name associated with the particular website). I haven't been in a situation where it made sense for me or a client, but say you were building a pron site, then perhaps it would be worth adding that protection.

EDIT: It would likely lead to less spam emails/phone calls too, if that's something you're concerned about.

Thanks guys. I have double authentication but I didn't know if it was ACTUALLY more susceptible to attack, spam, etc. without protection.

How do you guys prevent Domain Front Running? Do you search Whois directly through ICANN first with a CMD utility like "Whois v1.12" (is even that safe?) or do you just check possible domains for the first time on your Registrar and are prepared to buy it right then if available?

If an ICANN query doesn't tip off any bots I'd rather research some various domains before having to pull the trigger right then.

Do you guys renew year to year or just lock in the max years to get the discount plus a good coupon code and be done with it?

I typically only buy a domain for one year when I get it. Sometimes they become obsolete. Once you have one you know will be "permanent," you can renew for multiple years to save a few bucks.
