Don't think ESPN is Threatened by NFL Network? (1 Viewer)

I wonder why they don't mention the games that are on ESPN every week that are not available to those who don't have that channel?

The fact is, another station can provide what ESPN provides to a large extent.

There is only ONE NFL. I don't see that changing for a long, long, long time. If the NFL decided not to give ESPN its content, but gave content to other channels, viewers would just steer away from ESPN.

This could get interesting.

Don't forget, this is the same network that went from considering the NHL a "big four" sport to barely covering it at all (and mocking it whenever they did).

Of course, the fact that it happened at exactly the same time they lost the TV contract was pure coincidence.

The Strike had nothing to do with that of course :sarcasm: And yes, it is a self serving article on ESPN, but the simple fact is that ESPN is available to 3 times as many homes as the NFL network, which makes it justifiable news.

I had been pissed at the cable companies but its obvious now that the NFL is waaaay out of line this time. To more than triple its cost per subscriber AND demand that it be placed on basic cable is ridiculous. If there are 95 million homes at 70 cents a month, they are looking over $66M per month when they only have decent coverage from August thru January. If I were the cable companies, I'd bulk at that to.

Self serving or not (and I have seen similar articles on other sites), I think it sucks that those "so few of us" who don't have access to the NFL Network on THANKSGIVING of all days have to pay the price for what -- corporate greed? Who is really getting hosed in the end here? :wall:
