Draft Guys: Calling For Robert (1 Viewer)

There's a series of downloads that I committed to my storage banks, the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Draft Guys Spreadsheet, a series of Adobe Files that compiled final Rookie Draft Rankings for each of those year's Rookie Draft classes.

I really ejoyed that content. It was interesting to be a ble go back into those final rankings for draft's past and see how the cow ate that cabbage.

The 2007 edition was edited by Robert Sorter. The last file input to the '06 and '07 editions was on April 26, 2007 which was consistent with the '07 document's original issue date.

It looks like these publications were consistent with the Pre-Draft information from last year's content, which leads to the intent of this post.....

is Robert working this year and is he on schedule to release the '08 edition?

Oh, and before I forget: assuming that he's feavorishly working (in the backround and as we speak), are there any plans to attach a legend to this year's issue to identify the ranking sources? If you could steer clear to consider addiing this content, it would be helpfull in establishing which source issues the "best cabbage."

I'm not sure if it will be on draftguys this year although I will find out. However, I know it's draftguys policy, as well as footballguys policy, not to reveal pay sources, so I don't think we will have a legend because that would not be fair to the sources that expect users to pay for their rankings.

Good justification: however, content that's been issued and is no longer in the for pay realm: it is "past tense." PT means that it's in the realm of fact. What's wrong with factual analysis?

I disagree. If you want an old issue of Kiper's guide, I'm pretty sure you still have to pay for it. I'm not sure how you think that just because the company released their rankings for pay, the fact that they have already released them makes them "past tense" and free? :lmao:

Let us not degenerate into "WE" and "THEY" here....there are no "THEY's", there are only "WE's."There is no objection then to starting a thread and soliciting forum user input to determine the sources of the information?

If you prefer not to do it, then does that mean that WE can not?

What is wrong with the USER's sluthing out the information?

What is wrong with answering the question of who puts out accurate information?

Actually, when you think about it, the accessment cannot be made untill the third year for certain positions, most positions, in fact. I doubt if too many guys have infrmation from 2005 and 2006 still hanging around. There's a load of 2008 information now...2007 has most probably faded away into the trash can.

If Forum user's spotted, and identified, the information sources for the 2008 Draft Guide on May 1, 2008, it is still not at all possible to determine a trend at that time. It only becomes a matter of USER Record in May/June 2008. It means nothing until a period of time passes. If, however, the efort is not made now in order to have the information sources "ride with" the current analysis, it will not be possible to do so in times future.

It would be kinda nice to see who was on to, say, MJD in '06. I mean, MJD's average ADP was about the #35-37 slot in Dynasty Rookie Drafts that year. Who spots talent is the question?

:goodposting:

:2cents: I think I'm missing most of your point. However, here is what I think you are saying:

Why can't we have a thread where users look at Robert's spreadsheet and guess at the sources based on the sources that individual users have purchased?

I don't know if you can do that or not.

Depends on the FBG's Mission Statement. It also depends on who WE is.It's not whether WE are allowed to discuss it. It's whether YOU will allow the discussion. In the embolded above, the Mission Statement defines the purpose that YOU have....and the interaction that YOU have is not with me, it's with WE.

Why are YOU here and why are WE hear (spelling intentional) with you?

I think most of the guys that frequent this site are looking for an angle. That's why WE are here....to hear from the assemblage. YOU (the FGB's defined by the Mission Statement) ficilitate and participate in the discussion....and, YOU also ALLOW it. YOU are both a contributor and an allower.

As to guessing which source is which: it isn't a matter of guessing. It should be fairly easy to decode the rating systems and tie them to the 10-12 sources.

We all get our information, well at least most of us get our information, from the same sources. Just because it's all on a spread sheet doesn't mean that it can't be discussed as to who says what.

If you'd rather, the conversation can be held on the Zealots Message Boards and all the guys that frequent these boards would then have a good reason to frequent somewhere else.

Is that part of the Mission Statement, to drive factual conversations elsewhere?

The expresion that I use at work is: "Ees not my deal, Mon. I just work here."Maybe the FBG's will review this thread and pass on some wisdom regarding what they think we outta be doing?

If they prefer that the boards not be used for that purpose then they'll probably let US know.

If they think that it's part of why they're here then they'll be able to kick it around, discuss it and then respond.

Maybe they've never considered what their Mission is and why they are here and this will be ther beginning of something BIG?
