Draft pick trades & draft boards (1 Viewer)

Like many live drafts we use a draft board. Last season we had several trades that involved draft picks this year. So a few teams don't have a pick in a round or worse yet have a couple picks in the same round which kinds of messes up the draft board a little. For instance, the team that is picking 8th has no 1st round pick but has two #3s and the team picking 12th has two #1's (8 & 12) but no #3s. We also have one team that has three picks in the 8th round.

I am thinking how to handle this on our draft board and the best way I have thought to handle it is to put each teams picks in order, regardless to which round they were selected in so in the above example the team drafting 8 would put his 2nd round pick in his 1st slot, even though that player was not selected in the 1st round and we'll note that on the sticker with a magic marker.

Anyone do it differently?

That's how DD handles it and it seems fine... Basically your board looks messed up and you have to keep track of where you are (but it's not that hard) and once the trades are past, then you're back to normal which is nice...

My league keeps them "in place." We just write the actual drafting team on the sticker with a Sharpie. Pretty easy to identify when loading rosters later.

Yes that is certainly another way to do it. I think I prefer to do it by team rather than round so that guys can easily see the players on each team. Normally we have a lot of teams hanging around the board after the draft, evaluating drafts and talking trades and I think it would be easier to look at if we each team's pick in their column.I plan on entering the picks directly into CBS during the draft so I won't be going off the board.
