Draft Rumors/What We Hearing Official Thread (1 Viewer)

#Browns do not want to surrender their first-rounder in 2016 to land Marcus Mariota.
Smart move. Who's running things over there? Wait until 2016 and get a better QB.
Who is better next year?
noone.

there is no reason for the Titans to do/accept a damn thing until they're on the clock.

they either are willing to trade down, or arent. and Im 110% sure they know whether they are doing one or the other.

but once they're on the clock, they'll get the best possible offer from all interested. simple as that. talk is cheap right now
Yep... I'm sure the offers have already been made. If MM is a Titan next year, they know it right now and have already happily welcomed him to the family. Don't think it's a situation of "well we're on the fence. He COULD be the face of our franchise for the next 5+ years, but if we get a decent offer then we'll change our mind"

But if they don't see him as that, you know they're 100% gonna make that trade down, and when they're on the clock they'll truly find out how much they're getting back for him.

You will find out that there will be a few QBs better than Mariota. Possibly as many as 3 or 4.

Guys who stick around their Sr. year are way more likely to succeed in the NFL. Just look at current franchise QBs to see that stat. This coming year will have Conner Cook, Cardale Jones (Jr), Christian Hackenberg and possibly Jared Goff (Jr) among others.

I wont change my stance.

I was ADAMANTLY against the Browns taking a qb last year (unless it was garoppolo late), in prep to take Mariota this year. Stand by it.

I think he is the best QB in a good while, and wont be topped by anyone next year either.

Browns + Mariota will make me very, very happy

I hear the guys in 2017 are even better!
Saw a toddler the other day, progressions were epic and he had a hose. Just sayin'.
Have you seen his younger brother though?

Seems the Titans do run a little risk if they wait to milk the clock. If the Bucs were to take Mariota, the value of their pick would change. Probably up in the eyes of some and down in the eyes of others, but certainly not status quo . . .

If the Bucs were to take Mariota, there would be no trade.

There could very well be a trade with Winston as the target . . . never say never

Rotoworld:

Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio passes along a "rumor" that the Eagles have now set their sights on acquiring the No. 1 overall pick.

It's possible the Eagles floated this "rumor" in an attempt to create leverage against the Titans, showing that they can leapfrog Tennessee rather than deal with their exorbitant trade demands. It's also possible that there's fire behind this smoke. The Buccaneers are known to be interested in acquiring a late first-round pick, and Philadelphia is willing to part with several young players to make a trade up happen. A move into No. 1 ultimately seems unlikely for the Eagles, but with the NFL draft -- and Chip Kelly -- we've learned to never rule anything out.

So do we think Tennessee is trying to bend Chip over because everyone has known for months he wants Mariota? Just shoot for the stars and see if he caves before 8:15-ish?

:lmao:

Rotoworld:

NFL sources are "convinced" the Bucs won't trade the No. 1 pick.

ESPN's Ed Werder confirms that the Bucs have received overtures from the Eagles, but aren't going to pass up their shot at Florida State QB Jameis Winston. It's the right decision for a team that's basically spent its entire existence searching for a franchise quarterback.

Rotoworld:

According to the Miami Herald, three players have emerged as the Dolphins' likely targets at No. 14 overall: UCF WR Breshad Perriman, Louisville WR DeVante Parker, and Georgia RB Todd Gurley.

Based on this information, the Fins seem intent on upgrading their offense at No. 14. Reporter Armando Salguero believes Parker is the Dolphins' first choice, with Gurley second, and Perriman third. It's quite possible both Parker and Gurley will be off the board when Miami goes on the clock, leaving Perriman for the Fins.

Some draft nuggets to pass along ...
@AlbertBreer 2m2 minutes ago

1) Buzzworthy player: Trae Waynes. Established as the top CB. Could go as early as 7 to the Bears. Dupree/White also in play there.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 2m2 minutes ago

2) Titans fielded offers, but nothing worth for moving yet. They’re ready to draft Mariota at 2. And not real interested in a pick after 15.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 3m3 minutes ago

3) Trade-down teams in Top 10: Redskins, Jets, Rams. On first two, might be some hesitancy to drop back too far. Rams are more flexible.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 2m2 minutes ago

4) Amari Cooper could wind up going as early as 3, to the Jags, shouldn’t fall past 6. Logic: Can be Reggie Wayne for the next decade.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 3m3 minutes ago

5) Fowler makes sense for Skins at 5, but so might OLs Brandon Scherff or Ereck Flowers (maybe in deal down). GM won’t fall for groupthink.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 4m4 minutes ago

6) The Giants and Rams are looking at the same kind of OL – A big road-grader – although Peat could be in play at 10 if Flowers goes at 9.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 3m3 minutes ago

7) There is a belief that Giants GM Jerry Reese would rather have a pass-rusher than an OL at 9, but value might not match up right there.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 4m4 minutes ago

8) The run on OLs could happen earlier than people think, and may prompt at trade up or two. Cam Erving has a shot to go in the teens.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 4m4 minutes ago

9) Further down the line, the Panthers and Broncos are looking for OLs. Denver, in particular, needs a RT for Kubiak’s scheme.

@AlbertBreer 5m5 minutes ago

10) Fallers … Teams believe Shane Ray slips, but stays in Round 1; Randy Gregory falls out of Round 1. La’El Collins is off some boards.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 5m5 minutes ago

11) Chances are Sean Mannion or Bryce Petty is the third QB take. Neither likely in the first round.
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 5m5 minutes ago

12) Falcons may go up for an impact defender. Dupree could be the guy at 8. But Leonard Williams looks a lot like Richard Seymour …
Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer 5m5 minutes ago

13) Todd Gurley could be another trade-up target. Cleveland, Miami, San Diego all interested. Someone could get nervous.

Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Albert Breer says the Titans are now ready to draft Oregon QB Marcus Mariota at No. 2 overall.

Breer confirms the Titans have "fielded offers, but nothing worth for moving yet." He also adds GM Ruston Webster is not too interested in acquiring a pick in the back half of the first round. Chip Kelly currently holds the No. 20 selection.

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Bob Holtzman reported the Bears and Eagles are making a "late push" to acquire the No. 2 overall pick from the Titans.

Philadelphia's interest in the No. 2 pick is widely known. Chicago's is reportedly tied to parting with Jay Cutler, whom Holtzman stated the Titans do not want. Cutler has a bad contract, and rolling with Zach Mettenbeger would likely be seen as a better long-term option inside the Titans' organization.

Philly offering 2 1st (I assume pick 20 and 2016 1st), Fletcher Cox and other players for either #1 or #2 and still yet not enough.

Rotoworld:

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports the Eagles have made the Titans a "very substantial offer" for the No. 2 overall pick.

La Canfora called Philadelphia "the sweet spot" hinting that he expects the deal to get done. Philadelphia has dangled a handful of players and the 20th pick in previous trade talks but that didn't seem to be enough for Tennessee. The Bears are also said to be making a late push for Mariota. As we expected, this is going down to the wire.

Actually now that I think more about it the other 1st could be either pick 12 or 19 with Philly trading Bradford to Cleveland as help to get another pick for the trade.
