Draft Software (1 Viewer)

Looking for a little help here. What is your “Draft Dominator” for baseball? The Football Guys DD is an awesome tool and I greatly appreciate it.

However, I’m looking for a reasonably priced service similar to FBG. I’ve found Rotowire’s ($36) seems ok, but wasn’t overly impressed with the “Draft Software”. Some of the issues I have with Rotowire is the league of Appearances / Games, which allows for RP’s (especially middle relievers) to gain a lot of points.

I also saw Fantistics (www.insiderbaseball.com). I downloaded their trial version of the Draft Software and liked it. However the $55 price tag is well over what I’m willing to pay.

Thanks for the help and advice in advance.

Also, hey Football Guys… when are we going to get a Baseball Guys? I’ll happily give you my $25 today.

Here is what the software must handle for me:

- 16 team league H-2-H point league, 40 man rosters

- Auction for the first 23 (starters) and serpentine for the 17 reserves

- Standard starting lineups, but we require 5 SP’s and 4 RP’s

- Scoring:

Hitting-

TB – 1 point

AB - At Bats .75 points

BB - Walks (Batters) 1 point

CS - Caught Stealing -1 point

KO - Strikeouts (Batter) -1 point

R - Runs 1 point

RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point

SB - Stolen Bases 1 point

Pitching-

APP - Appearances 4.5 points

BB - Walks (Batters) -1 point

BS - Blown Saves -2 points

ER - Earned Runs -1 point

HD - Holds 5 points

INN - Innings 5 points

K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 0.25 points

L - Losses -5 points

S - Saves 10 points

TBA - Total Bases Allowed -1 point

W - Wins 10 points

If you have Microsoft Excel, this is free:

Cheatsheet Compiler & Draft Buddy

It covers off almost everything in your post.

- Not explicitly designed to do a combo auction/pick (serpentine) draft but we can figure out a workaround.

- It doesn't have projections for CS for hitters and BLSV, HLD and TBA. There is a spot you can put in CS, BLSV and HLD if you like. Does TBA for a pitcher include walks? I haven't seen that category before.

- It doesn't have APP as a scoring option, but we can easily get around that by moving the Game projections into another column.

- Just updated the projections, adp and depth charts last night.

Shoot me a PM or email if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Mike

:kicksrock: very much appreciated by this first time drafter.

I used to use Rotowire back when it was free.

This year I used Baseball Prospectus' projections (20 bucks a year for the fantasy subscription), which allow you to input your scoring rules before spitting out a ranked spreadsheet of players. I then drafted off of that. Not as good as the DD but still better than the stock projections you get at the fantasy league provider websites, which are generally not customizeable for your league rules.

On the plus side, it allowed me to ID players like Koji Uehara who were sorta off the radar on other cheatsheets earlier this spring.

On the minus side, they really seem to like Jody Gerut this year for some reason. And I drafted him.
