I didn't see this thread had gotten bumped, I'll add my breakdown of my FBG team...
.09 Charles. I traded the 1.11 and the 4.02 for the 1.09 and 4.02 to get charles, and I was happy to do so. He was 3rd on my board, and I was shocked he lasted so long.
.02 Mendy. DMC is whom I wanted, but he dropped the pick before me. Totally happy to take mendy tho. MJD was my only other option, but injury risk mand me lean mendy
.11 Wayne. Don't love this pick, in retrospect. Wayne is going further than that in other leagues I've seen. I think I could have snagged him at 4.09. On the other hand, WR's were unusually picked over at this point, and I wanted a WR that I knew would be able to get WR production in year 1 to anchor my squad.
.09 Colston. Another pick I don't love. had surgery like right after I picked him. If I had it to do over I'd probably take Wes or steve johnson here.
.08 Peyton Manning (traded 6.02/11.11 for 5.08/12.05) Last qb of his tier, so I thought I had to get him. Fits into my general philosophy of trying to pick the last guy of a tier, not the first.
.11 DWill. I thought was great value at the time. Now that he's resigned in Carolina, I don't love it, but still, great value. Love my Rb1-3
.11 Couldn't believe Witten was here. Completely validates my wait on QB/Te's strat, when I can get elite QB's in the 5th and TE's at the end of the 7th. Admittedly, in most drafts there won't be a TE of witten's ilk left at that point.
.02 Seattle mike. Didn't love this pick, but the WR's were so picked over, I was desperate. Below average WR3, but to be expected when I spend 2 picks in top 7 on qb/te. HOWEVER, when Kenny Britt had a run in with the law, I traded Mike+Dixon for Britt+Deji. and I LOVE brit as my WR 3, given the strength of the rest of the team.
.11 Steve smith. Had most upside at that point
.02 Starks
.02 Jennings
.05 Moeaki
.11 Branch
.02 Gabbert
.11 Jerrigan
.02 Mallet
.11 Garrard
.02 Harper
.11 Dixon (now Deji)
.02 Housler
.11 KC D
.02 Skelton ( now beck)
.11 Mason
.02 Ajirotutu
.11 fantuz
.02 Saints D
.11 Dickerson
.02 Brown (k)
Taking manning meant I had to take more qb's than I normally like to take, young ones to develop, and gerrard to fill in ( and cut once gabbert takes the starting job). But it's a small price to pay for an elite QB. My team is older than I normally like, but id definitely built to win now.
