Draft Strategy - How to handle keepers? (1 Viewer)

Our keeper league is set so we can't keep a player selected in the first 3 rounds and when you keep a player he cost you a pick 3 rounds from his original draft position. I find myself taking upside picks more often with keepers in mind. This year I have an opportunity to keep a. peterson (would cost me a 1) or m. barber (a third). I am inclined to pass up on peterson as i see more value in drafting a first rounder in the third. it would allow me to secure either a stud qb and stud wr or two stud wr to match with barber. how do you see it?

Im not really asking who i should keep, im more interested in your thoughts on whether i am overthinking this...

I would think of it this way. What side of this trade would I prefer to be on?
Adrian Peterson + 3rd Round PickforMarion Barber + 1st Round Pick
If you really prefer one over the other, then there is your answer. But if they are pretty close, then I would choose the side with the best player.
