Draft Type - Auction or draft (1 Viewer)

How do you do your draft, as an auction or a straight draft.

What do you like or no like about it?

I have always done auctions and never liked a straight draft, but it seems that most on these boards and this site are using not using auctions. Just want to hear what you use and why you use it.

Thanks,

We have always had a straight draft, but we had an auction this year and I liked it better. It involves more stratagy, and you have a chance at every player.

Switched to auction a couple of years back. There's really no comparison...

The only really difficulty is that you HAVE to have everyone present for player selection. We've managed a time or two in the past with someone sending in a list when it couldn't be avoided. No way to do an auction in those cases. But it every other way, it is an improvement!

There is no comparison.

The draft is great if you have a term paper to get done or there is something else on TV you want to watch. I mean basically, what you do is sit around for 20-30 minutes waiting for your turn to take the best athlete that remains on the board. You could shave an ape, bring it to the draft with you and teach it to point to a name near the top of a list. Of course, you'd have to help that ape maintain the list...you know...scratch off names as they are taken but other than that, it would be the ape's team!

The FIRST thing you have to do is stop off at a convenience store on the way to the draft and pick up a current magazine. This will be your guide for the next three hours.

Once you arrive at the draft you need to find out exactly which position in the draft you've drawn and then scratch off the names of those players that you have absolutely NO CHANCE of obtaining then, make yourself confortable.

Once you and your ape have gone through your list, you've got your team!

All you need to do now is get ready with your season long excuse...."I KNEW he'd do good but YOU picked him up just before I was going to get him!".

It's fun though.

Kinda like putting together one of those six-piece jigsaw puzzles you had when you were a kid!

Auctions are bit more involved.

First...AND FOREMOST of all....you have a chance to optain the services of EACH AND EVERY PLAYER in the NFL.

You want L.Tomlinson?? Bid another buck

You want L. Johnson?? Bid another buck

You want P. Manning?? You get the pitcure.

You need to budget for each player and each position.

As our league mottos says...."Check your excuses at the door".
