Draftguys TV 2008 Draft Contest

We're excited to announce this year's Draftguys Contest:

This is no ordinary, pick the top players, draft contest. We know we have the biggest draftnik fans anywhere, and this is your chance to prove it to us, all the while supporting Draftguys TV!

All you have to do is predict who will be the top 8 drafted Draftguys TV prospects. It doesn't matter what round they get drafted in. It doesn't matter what team drafts them. Just figure who the top 8 are (in order) and earn eternal bragging rights as our Draftguys TV NFL Draft Contest Champ!

This is a FREE, for fun contest, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything on the line. The person with the top scoring entry in the contest wins:

· Authentic NFL Jersey from Draftguys*

· 25 MOP Dollars from MyOfficePool.ca**

The deadline to enter the contest is 2:40pm Eastern on Saturday April 26, 2008 (20 minutes prior to the start of the draft). You can change your picks as many times as you like prior to the deadline.

Good luck!

* Team is of the contest winner's choosing.

** To be used towards any future sports pool.

I just found your site last night - very nice. I love the stuff you and Cecil do on the second tier rookies. Clips like those are hard to find. Excellent work. The Internet sure has changed the way we find out information for fantasy football. I can remembering thinking I had a HUGE advantage because I read the USA Today instead of the Washington Post. Sportscenter wasn't even around when I started.

Anyone who was in last year's contest should be able to use the same login information for this year. If you are having trouble logging in, and using the lost password link, then shoot me an email and we'll get it figured out.

Bump. Looks like we have 55 in so far. A little over a day to go, which isn't a lot of time to watch every episode of Draftguys TV

I'll give you guys one hint:

Antwaun Molden better be on your list.

For anyone who hasn't entered - was eight too many? would five have been better?

Johnson, Josh QB

Greco, John OT

Molden, Antwaun CB

Simpson, Jerome WR

Jackson, Chevis CB

Okam, Frank DT

Jackson, Dexter WR

Alridge, Anthony RB

5/8

Surprised JOhnson didn't go sooner. Thought Okam would be drafted based on potential and Aldridge might be looked at as a special teamer.

Okay, I was waiting for Sig to review the results before I posted them, but he's probably collapsed from the last 48 hours of excitement. I just posted them and will leave it to the Pool to tell me if I screwed up.

Draftguys TV Draft Contest Results

4-way tie for 1st! JoshB, krsone, Raagsreth and ThinMan all scored 56 points out of a possible 80. Nicely done! Also interesting to note that none of them had the exact same picks. It looks like we'll have a draw for the NFL jersey, and maybe draw a second name for the 25 MOP Dollars. The Draftguys will make the call on that.

Christo and Chainz - you actually each scored more than the points you calculated. Read on...

Upon reflection, it wasn't just the top 8 I needed to calculate the scores, but rather the top 17. Since each pick was worth 10 points if you hit it exactly, or lose 1 point down to zero for each position away from where the player was drafted. So... Josh Johnson for example. Say someone picked him to be drafted 8th amongst Draftguys TV prospects. He was actually drafted 11th. That would be worth 7 points.

Based on my calculations, here is the order all Draftguys TV prospects were drafted:

1. Simpson, Jerome

2. Jackson, Dexter

3. Greco, John

4. Jackson, Chevis

5. Molden, Antwaun

6. Lowery, Dwight

7. Tryon, Justin

8. Shirley, Jason

9. Felton, Jerome

10. Okam, Frank

11. Johnson, Josh

12. Thomas, Marcus

13. Henry, Marcus

14. Brown, Thomas

15. Lynch, Corey

16. Omon, Xavier

17. Hubbard, Paul

18. Johnson, Jaymar

19. Mays, Joe

20. Bell, Demetrius

21. Johnson, Steve

22. Larocque, Joey

...and the other 24 went undrafted.

Hope you enjoyed the contest!

ThinMan is actually me. (I've been outed! *gasp!* )

When Johnson, Molden(especially him) and Greco dropped further than I had predicted I didn't even bother checking this until today. Didn't think I had a freaking chance.

Blind squirrel, etc etc, I guess. :)
