Drafting After Opening Night? (1 Viewer)

Having issues with wedding near the end of August with some of my owners and was considering doing a draft on Sept 6th so we could all be together. Has anyone ever done this before and if so does it work out, even though a game has already been played on Thursday prior?

Let me know your thoughts, pros and cons.'

Thx for any input

WCOFF drafts on Saturday of opening weekend, after the Thursday night game. Stats from that game count so you pretty much know how some of your players will do in week 1 and players who go off get drafted early for that reason alone.

You could always start your season week 2, if knowing some of the stats is a problem for the league.

I'm think'n about going this year. Do you go every year?Go wings!

Our league has done it for the last 4 years. There's 15 of us but a bunch had moved away over the years and had too many problems trying to fly in Labor Day weekend so we switched it to the week after. Some may ask why not the week before Labor Day then, but we did not want to be drafting when the final NFL rosters were not set yet.

Ultimately, the one game on Thu night does not make a big enough effect on the whole draft/season. Case in point: Courtney Alexander TE for Oak a few years back had 2TD's that game so someone drafted him high. He didn't score the rest of the season. You should already pretty much know who you are targeting. If you change your whole draft board because of 1 game you've already got 1 foot in the toilet bowl anyways. The only bad thing might be if someone is seriously injured in that game that would have been drafted high.

There has been no complaining from our league and you can always try it this year because of the wedding and if the league doesn't like it, you can always switch it back nex year.

I've been every year but the first one. It's always interesting to see how much certain player values change after the Thursday game. The WCOFF season is pretty short (11 weeks in regular season) so a quick start is a big plus. I just look at it like everyone has the same information so why does it matter.

If you can get a top 3 pick... go.Otherwise, try NFFC or something.

I've gone twice but took last year off. Might be going this year. It's a good time.
