Drafting for Bye Weeks (1 Viewer)

Hey guys and gals, I'm new to this site but have been doing the fantasy football thing for a number of years...too many to count. I have my high stakes draft coming in a few weeks (WCOFF Main Event) and I was wondering what the general opinion is on drafting for bye weeks.

I'm a bit paranoid about posting the names of the guys I'm targeting, but there are three runningbacks that I like that may all end up on my team and all would be in my starting lineup from week to week barring injury (start 2 rbs and 1 flex)...only problem is, they all have the same bye week. The WCOFF format for making the playoffs takes the team with the best W/L record and the remaining team with the highest total points scored. Last year I made the championship game with the highest total points and a few years back with the best W/L record so both are obviously important.

I'm leaning towards taking them anyway if I can get them where I want them and maybe making sure I have a backup or two that has a favorable situation and/or matchup for that week.

Thoughts?

You're playing in the high stakes WCOFF and you're taking bye weeks into account in cheat sheet creation? You may want to consider scaling back on the gamlbing, never. ever take bye weeks into account during your draft.

I posted my Bye week thread above at the exact same time you posted this and didnt see yours. Hopefully, my thread will bring on some interesting debate that will be helpful to you.

I personally don't think they should be taken into account but when this time of the year comes around I start second guessing everything I think I know to be right.

I agree. You need to win peroid. Draft the best team you can and deal with that one bye week issue if your fortunate enough to land all 3 RB's your targeting. If you think your going to sacrifice a stud squad for one lousy week then why would you risk it?

I really only worry about my backup QB. Other than that I don't really alter my draft due to byes...

I wouldn't take the byes into account when drafting. Go with the stronger team for the vast majority of the season and worry about that one bye week when when it comes up.

I was talking to a statistician ( and big Fantasy Baseball player) about it a few years ago and he had a wierd algorithm he used for something and rewrote it to build different 12 teams with every conceivable bye week combo. It ran 500,000 simulations. I dont remember the exact #s but its was landslide that it is better to have as many as players on the same bye week as possible. Best scenario is all starters on the same bye. You take your lumps but then face everyone else while they are far from 100%.
