Drafting from the 6th Spot (1 Viewer)

I am drafting from the 6th spot in a 10 team league. Scoring is not PPR, but RB's get bonus points for recTD's. Anyways, I am trying to decide what the strategy is on this spot. I am thinking of going with either SA/FWP/Westy in round one, following it up with the start of the WR run in round 2 and then cleaning up with RB or QB in 3/4. I have read the strats for the 5 spot and the 7 spot, but haven't seen any for the 6 spot, so I was wondering what the rest of you have to say about it.

The more I think about it the more FWP makes sense. I get the feeling that we saw the best out of Westy last year and I would be surprised to see his totals get better. More likely to regress to his average if McNabb is healthy and with 2 good RB's behind him I think that hurts. Alexander's foot scares me, though all reports from Seattle say he is practicing like a champ and will be more involved in the passing game. FWP's knee swelling makes me weary, but I don't recall anything about him having a history of knee problems and Pitt looked really sharp in the opener.

This is right about the spot I consider Manning, Parker and Addai. Otherwise you have to help LJ falls and signs.

I have the 6th spot in a similar league (10 team, redraft, non-PPR). We do an e-mail draft, and when my pick came up in the 1st round I couldn't decide between Shaun Alexander and Addai as I think they are both very close. So I actually traded 1st and 2nd round picks with the guy who has the 7th spot. He chose Alexander, and then I got Addai. So I basically get the guy I wanted, plus get to pick 1 spot early in the 2nd round; not much, but I'm hoping I can perhaps use that earlier pick to land another quality RB who's not in an RBBC.

Jammin - I know who 3 of the 5 picks are going to be as the owners have already let slip who they are taking, 1-3 LT, SJax, Gore. I'm not sure who number 4 is going to take, but the guy ahead of me at 5 usually always takes a QB. So there is a decent chance LJ drops to me at 6. My concern is that LJ seems more and more like a landmine as his holdout continues. I'd almost rather be making decision between Addai, Alexander or Westbrook in my league.

I'm in a similar situation. I have the 5th pick in a 12 teamer, but LJ and Addai are keepers this year for guys that have slots behind me....not sure which way to go. I'm hoping that SA falls to me. I'm on the fence with Westy.

I think the return of McNabb along with Buckhalter and Hunt in the mix Westbrook regresses some. If you went Westbrook, I think you'd have to go RB in round 2 for the simple fact you know Westbrook won't play a full schedule, but you have more flexibility with a FWP, SA or Addai at this spot in round 2.

OK I just got the 6th slot and Im VERY happy with it as long as LJ signs. Here's my reasoning. IF LJ signs, the top 3 picks most likely would be LT, SJax, and LJ. So that means I can have whoever is left over from the Alexander, Gore, Addai group at 6. I am VERY high on all 3 of these RBs. If LJ does not sign, those 3 most likely would go and then I would be stuck with risking a pick on LJ or taking Westbrook or Parker, 2 guys Im a bit iffy on.

Then in the 2nd round you would most likely get a top 3 WR (Smith, Owens, Holt, etc) and in the 3rd round you can still get a solid RB2.

Would anyone take Henry?
I did at #5 in a PPR league over the weekend. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but LJ's holdout and surroundings scared me. I wanted Addai, but he went at #4. THought hard about Westy, but the weekly GTDs get old, (and the fact microfracture surgery was mentioned as a possibility for him last year scares the bejesus out of me). Also heavily considered FWP, but bought into the Denver hype and went Henry. Maybe I'll regret it, but I wanted to mix it up. You can't draft exclusively off last year's results. If you do an ordinary draft, you'll get an ordinary team.
