Drafting players with the same bye weeks? (1 Viewer)

His theory is that one week, he will be weak and most likely lose. The rest of the weeks he will be near full strength. And sense in this?

You bet. Get it over with instead of meddling with shuffling players in/out of your lineup and raiding waivers for fill-ins.

As long as he didn't draft inferior players just so they would have the same bye week, then yes, there is sense to this.

Sure, it could work.

Fact is that in the first five rounds at least I don't care about bye weeks at all. I'm running QBBC with Big Ben and Kitna this year and they both are on the same bye.

I don't really understand drafting by bye week until your flipping coins between two players.

There's merit to it, but the bottom line is it shouldn't play such a role in decision making that you're taking players of less value based on Bye week strategy.

The bottom line is if you make the playoffs, you don't have to worry about the bye, and want the strongest team possible on the field.

If you've got a very small bench, that strategy is best... as long as player is worthy of selection.

Having a one-week weakness is irrelevant in H2H.

It is death in best ball and survivor leagues.

I have the same QB combo. They were just the best values on the board- I woudl have preferred different bye weeks but I took the BPA available at each point. There's a difference between having your 2 stud RBs and a WR on bye the same week and having your two QBs on bye the same week when you can only start one anyway :pickle:

In a recent auction I ended up with three WRs with the same bye ... three of the top 10 WRs, by the way. Didn't do it on purpose, but the prices were right. I think I might be OK for the other 12 weeks.

Also backed up my QB with one from the same bye week. Again, I noticed it, but I didn't care. I'd rather have the talent on my roster now and worry about the scrap heap when the time comes.

In the middle of a draft, I have thought about doing this when the right players were falling to me unexpectedly. I don't think I would ever do into a draft planning to tank a specific week, though. That's pretty rigid.
